Wonderfully illustrated and edited.  There seemed to be a considerable amount of care into the segments flowing into each one another...  with a rhythm in mind! So when I got to the part with the glitched blue screens fading in and out and the words being told in the illustration rather than the dialogue box, it really had good impact!
Bravo on the colors and fine lined illustrations. (especially that cool perspective drawing of hands holding a broom!!!)

Story was a bit hard to understand, but I thoroughly enjoyed it mostly in a good abstract kinda way, and from a 'vibe' and art perspective.

Nice work! I may have to play it through again, as it feels like I may have missed something. But I liked interacting with the objects and letting that bring the narrative into focus.

A great experience! The attention to detail and use of repeated imagery really sells the emotional core of the narrative. Interactivity isn't exactly commonplace in Ren'py games, so to see you use it to expand the story and the characters involved, even if by a small amount, is a welcoming breath of fresh air. The art's top notch as well.

Lack of sound aside (trust me, I understand how daunting it is to find and implement sound and music when you have all this other stuff to do as a solo developer), the bird is, sadly, very distracting, and hurts the somber tone of the narrative. Not to a serious degree, though. Also, it might just be me, but I found Cole's father's motivations to be somewhat unclear, even after a second playthrough. Perhaps it's meant to be left for interpretation, but I found most of the other threads to be clear.

Keep up the good work!

(Side note: I commend the subtle hinting in the title and main menu art)

Such a beautiful take on such a heavy theme! I really liked how everything was revealed subtly by Cole's thoughts about the objects in his room... like how even the pizza (and ketchup) contributed to the story. It really helped with the pacing of telling such a big truth in such a short time!!

On the note of pacing, I also really appreciate you never telling the direct truth about Cole's dad until it's revealed at the end... but leaving enough subtle clues about it (like Cole's hope that he didn't hear the tubes break) to a point where the twist didn't come out of nowhere but instead just clicked into place as a sad epiphany. That kind of writing is not easy to do, so really well done!

The art was also really really beautiful. Not just the style but the attention to detail. It was nice to see a visual novel be so interactive too, being able to click on things and go to different rooms.

Literally the only thing that could make the expierence more immersive is audio. (there wasn't any, right? just making sure that's not a glitch on my end). The dead silence was a little hard to stomach, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the game. Even some very simple sound design like some looped string chords or dialog box sounds could easily fix that and take immersion to a whole new level!

Really well done with this game! I enjoyed it!

P.S. Is Cole by chance inspired by Yukine from Noragami? If yes.... YASSSS! If it's just a coincidence and you've never heard of him, you should totally check out that manga/anime! I think you'd enjoy it! ;D

i'm so happy you enjoyed !

i appreciate writing  compliments, i was really worried that a lot of the story might've just gotten lost in my head, so it's nice to hear that everything was understandable, and that the story came out the way i intended.

the artwork is always my favorite part of developing, and i'm sure that shows :]

there wasn't any audio, though i do plan on adding some music and effects later on, as well as cleaning up some glitches. real life got me a bit too overwhelmed to finish them for the jam, but i agree that a topic this heavy needs a better level of immersion.

thank you so much for playing :]] and Cole wasn't directly inspired by Yukine, but i have seen the anime, so i'm sure it was subconscious to some regard
