Really relaxing game.

I like the idea of only bringing two items at once, inviting the player to try out multiple combinations, but since the movement is so slow, it can get really tiring to walk everything back to locked doors and passages every time you change your items, so please consider tweaking the movement speed.

The art is really cute, but you need to better separate the backgrounds from the actual foreground. I kept trying to jump over rocks at the cave that were actually background, but had the same color as the places where you do the platforming.

With proper polish, this can become a really cute and enjoyable game.

I like the graphic, a little buggy sometimes  :D good job!

Soothing little experience.

The art style was fitting, it was fun finding all those different little hidden things with item combinations. Limiting the player to certain upgrades makes for an interesting little exploration.

I found the controls where well done but felt very slow on sequential runs. This hinders the experience greatly.

The camera is also panned in quite a bit, on some occasions, like the cave with the waterfall or the Toby Fox-esque 3 headed Cerberus, I was not able to see and embrace the full beauty with the limited range of the torch, not playing to the games strengths.

At first I was a little confused, the climbable tiles looked like regular floor and not having the torch on the first go meant walking to the left felt like clipping out of bounds. A little bit of work this can be communicated to the player better.

Very original and unique twist on the platformer genre. Interesting concept for sure, which I enjoyed playing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the detailed feedback too :)

Beautiful art. Nice music. But the camera is too close to the character and the slow speed of movement. But game is good.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Cool idea for a game! Found it difficult to follow/figure out what to do sometimes but interesting concept.

Really great game!  Interesting, creative take on the theme, and a nice challenge deciding which items to take - rewarding when you choose right!  A very strong submission!

Could use some direction, or indication of progress.  It's unclear which items in the world are interactive or scenery.  What's the overall objective?

An addition of enemies or things to jump on and bounce off of would be welcome!

Developer

Thanks a lot :) Yeah I planned on a lot of the art being placeholder art and was going to make some more obvious art/animations to give a bit more direction but didn't have the time. I was going to include some UI elements to show items you had collected and such but wanted to keep it very uncluttered, but it would definitely be a good idea to include some more obvious clues and indication of progress. The objective is to collect all of the items and the the game gives you a rundown of the story the game is based on of Cupid and Psyche :)

Hello hello, i really like the concept of having to progress without being able to use everything. A lot.

A  good way to build a metroidvania differently! Your idea can lead to pretty interesting and complex situations, and makes you think before packing. You've made your point! The only things i do not like is that the char is slooow and it is a bit laborious to travel across the world. Will come back to it to finish it!

Oh and it is a bit scary when you end up opening a door in the caves, and seeing this .. ahem beanny waterfall monster ! The loop music is a bit exhausting too, and does not fits the caves ^^ Ambient sound would have done the job :)

Developer

Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback :) I'm glad you liked the concept. I agree the speed is quite slow, it's quite hard to judge that sort of thing when you know exactly where to go and don't waste any time. If I update the game I'll adjust the controls, and put a bit more variation in the sound XD

Hehe x) This slow rythme is also good to make you think twice before picking anything! The graphics are fine, i think you can do something that better fits the game spirit (a bit generic now, but it already start to feel like alice in wonderland). Wish you good luck if you plan to improve it!
