Rate and Comment Bots ...

So, I would like to express this problem (again!), which I have encountered in other jams, as well as this one. Some people use bots to score their games. I do not want to give their names but you can easily find them out. Most comments come from very new accounts, 1 or 2 days old. In another jam I participated in, a game with 1GB file was the 2nd, and nothing changed even though I reported it.

I know GameJams are about having fun, challenging yourself. When I made this kind of explanation before, I got reactions like let people do what they want, It's not a win lose thing etc. But unfortunately I am not having fun when injustice is included. I usually start rating from the lowest ones by choosing "least rated". Because someone has spent time to develop a game, it doesn't matter whether the game is good or bad, I think it deserves some attention. There is a difference of about almost 60 times between the games with the most rated and with the least rated and its still growing... This problem should be fixed by site admins!

Also, In my opinion, The jury or Hosts should determine the results not the BOTS!

I know how you feel, it is also my first game jam. While not many have this mindset I am also here to try out new games and talk to new people to maybe collaborate with in the future :D Tried out and rated your game, nice arcade game! Missing a point system or something to keep track how many zombies you've killed though.

Please also play, rate and give a review to this game :D Thank you!

I haven't participated in a lot of jams (this one's just my 3rd) but I can easily imagine someone doing something of this nature. Its sad too  since it means that less people get to see the ones at the bottom, some of which are actually crazy good and creative.

Its sad that people do this.. It shouldn't be allowed.. This is my second game jam

This is my first jam and I already hate this things. Even I started playing and rating games with least ratings. I felt very sad to see that for many good ones I was the first or second person to rate. Especially for those people for whom it was their first game jam.☹️

I think it is crucial to get honest feedbacks from as many people as possible so that we can improve. I think only those accounts should be allowed to rate a game who have submitted a game in the jam.

Thats true even I've seen a few games which are good but haven't gotten much ratings. I feel that even tho ratings comes under "being competitive", the number of ratings would directly coorelate with the number comments and hence feedback. And jams and mainly about fun and feedback and learn in and improving. If the genuine people don't get feedback then it's a failing system...

But on the other hand there are also ways to make sure your games get ratings. I'm not sure about this jam but in ludum dare if you rate others' games you are sure to get ratings for yourself. Another way is being active in the community. And that works in this jam too obviously. I hope that the issue of bits don't undermine the good thing we have here. There should be ways to ban or avoid bots right. Jams are really fun and I've just started jamming. Hoping to keep doing it!
