I don't know how Jams work

So, I'm already part of a team and we're making a game. I only do the art for the game and that art is pretty much done. If I made my own game separate from that, would I be allowed to submit it? I'd imagine the answer to be no because that just seems rude and unfair. And to be clear, I didn't intend this from the start. I just ended up with an idea 2 days after we started and I'm pretty much just making it for myself. If I can't, that's fine. If I can, I probably still won't submit it cause as I said, I'm making it for myself really. Just had the thought and want an answer

I do imagine that every Jam has it's own rules concerning these situations, but personally, if all the work is done inside of the allotted time, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to submit a second project.

I don't see a reason why you couldn't (or why that should be rude or unfair). In the past I made my jam game and helped others out. There shouldn't be a problem the other way around.

Honestly the only thing that might cause an issue is the itch database. Idk if they set it up, so that one jammer can be linked to multiple projects. That is when you post a comment under a submission it makes a link to your game. Now I am curious if it allows you to do that and shows two games.

Probably you're going to have to be credited weirdly for your team game, so it works out.

Well, the reason I think it'd be rude or unfair is that there is somewhat of competition aspect to jams. I know that's not the point of jams, it's about just having fun making games and the community, but that little sliver is still there. I would sorta have 2 entries while others have 1. I dunno, maybe I'm just digging myself into a hole for no reason

Definitely the latter. Gamedevs are cool guys you need to be a massive dick to upset us.
