Great job submitting a game! I did two playthroughs, one only upgrading thrusters and the other upgrading shields. I think I favored the movement more. Shield seemed a little trickier, especially trying to stay in one spot. I like how one relies on timing and the other movement skill. Visually it was sometimes hard to determine if I was going to get hit or not until it was too late. Maybe making lanes or having a grid overlay would help? As for difficulty it took me three runs to beat the game. Those double laser blasts hit hard when I didn't have enough shield meter left.  But, after I got used to the gameplay it was pretty easy to win.

I think the main thing missing here is a little more variety in gameplay but for a game made in a week I think you made a smart choice limiting your scope and keeping it minimal! I had fun regardless so great work. Thanks for coming back for your second Nokia Jam! Hope to see you next year!

What a neat game! I included it in my Nokia 3310 Jam 4 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Seems like hitboxes are a pixel too high – if they pass adjacent to the wings, it counts as damage, but if you’re gonna go minimalistic, you’d definitely want those details to read right. I’m reminded of an anecdote about how near hits are even counted as misses in Super Hexagon, because it just feels better for hard games to not beat the player by means of ambiguity.

And yeah while the urge to make everything an upgrade is understandable, it’s my feeling that the ship starts too slow to make an avoidance style fully possible, so you get into the habit early of just staying in one place and getting better at shield-timing.

I hope my feedback comes across positively; could be a nice elegantly simple type of game with a few such tweaks!

The Game Is Super Cute! I Love The Game Loop But I Feel As Sitting Down At The Bottom Is Kinda The Best Stratagy! Overall An Amazing Game That Keep Me Playing! :0

A fun time!

It’d be cool if there was more of a trade off between thrust/shield upgrades; maybe some missiles that can only be avoided by shielding/moving?
