Great job submitting a game! I love the idea of this game. The mechanic feel super good. The upgrades confused me at first I thought they were enemies. The main drawback is the levels. Sometimes you just get extremely unlucky setups that take away all your speed only to get a gap that you can't cross because you don't have enough momentum. One time the very first jump was too far for the beginning speed which felt bad. Once I got up speed it really felt like I was a pro skater / good at the game. I can imagine some kind of speed / score bonuses for switching rails to incentivize riskier play / not sticking to one rail. It makes me want to see a fully realized version of this! As soon as I started playing the gears in my head started turning, its a great feeling. My best score was 250. Thanks for participating!
Yeah. I really ran out of time before I could tune the track generation to be anything but random. You’re definitely not the only one to have had a few unlucky starts :/
Some cool ideas there- and an impressive high score.
Always great to see someone playing a game of mine. Thanks for sticking with it, especially as it seems you were super unlucky at the start; really wish I’d gotten around to putting some intelligence in the track generation.
Made it to 314! The overall mechanic is somewhat counter intuitive, but once I got the hang of it the game had was quite enjoyable and relaxing to play. The level generation could use a little work as it felt way too difficult at the start, or sometimes impossible, and getting too easy as I progressed.
Originally I thought it was like a Donkey Kong Country railcart level where you’re literally going up and down, but I guess it’s more like left/right from above? Didn’t expect to die by going up.
It’s a bit hard to judge the distances of which gaps I can make – I thought I died to a gap of a size I’d already crossed, or do I gradually slow down again a while after picking up a powerup?
I do like to see all the variations people manage to come with in such restrictive conditions, all the more so for bite-sized two-button games like this.
Yeah- I guess that’s the problem when you’re sole developing; I didn’t really see it as anything else but three rails in a row that you jump between as you skate along to the right.
So it’s been interesting to see how many people have had a similar challenge to you. It’s a hard one to solve, given the graphical constraints.
This Is A Simple Well Made Game And It Took Me The Least Time From The Other Game To Understand! At First I Though The "Skulls" Were My Enemy. I Like The Fall Off Animation! Overall A Cute Game.
Took a while to understand that up and down keys just move you to a rail but I like how health was represented with your speed. A little more of an indicator for when you're slowing down would have definitely helped more. Still, it's a cool idea and entry with some nice visuals as well. Good job
I think the track generation really should've had a check to make sure the first gaps were possible. I had 3 straight attempts where there was nothing I could do in the first section. Also it'd be nice to have some indication of how far is allowed at the current speed.
Pretty fun! The perspective appeared to be side-scrolling at first, which confused me when I fell in the middle of the screen haha. But, once I understood which way was up, I had a lot more fun :)

Thanks for hosting :D
Challenging game. I included it in my Nokia 3310 Jam 4 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Appreciated. Tom.

Thanks - glad you had fun once it got going!
I know what you mean about the level generation - I had meant to get some logic in, but the time limit got me!

took me a few tried to get the hand of, but once i got it it's a satisfying game. Love the animations for the character jumping.
cool game and nice presentation
Thanks :)

They were supposed to be “U” for “upgrade” … although now skulls are all I can see :P

I get that; sorry you were soo unlucky at the start!
The purely randomised track generation was only supposed to be temporary; but I didn’t get enough time to implement anything more intelligent.

Hah- thanks :D
It was hard but I got the hang of it. I really enjoyed it!
Thanks!
The randomness of the track can make it brutal sometimes - I ran out of time to add any intelligence there!
