Great job submitting a game and congrats on making the top 10! This is a short but very polished experience. I had a lot of fun playing!

The visuals are great, I love the tile sets and the enemy designs. Switching between elements of magic was a simple but fun mechanic. I especially liked all the interactivity with the fire. Getting to flex on the box room after getting lv2 fire was a highlight. It makes me wonder what else could be done with the other elements, I saw that you ran out of time but those would be cool to see!

The music gives me un uneasy feeling which adds to the atmosphere and the boss music makes the fights more intense. I liked how the final boss was a rock monster, I imagine two other bosses wielding the other elements.

The moment where I was questioning how I would get to the key behind the water and realizing I could simply walk under the waterfalls was pretty memorable lol. Of course my favorite part was probably the end :). To answer the guy at the start of the game, it was worth it. Good work and thanks for participating!

The combat felt unnecessary. I think I would've preferred more things to interact with instead. Just wandering around and messing with things was fun though.

I got all the spells to lvl 2, but I couldn't tell if there was any benefit besides just a big area.

Fair point here.  I agree that the combat is underwhelming, and that there could have been more puzzle interactions. I had big plans for puzzles that utilized lightning (interacting with water, powering generators / machines, etc), but as is typical with game jams, time prevented it from happening. Lvl 2 spells have a larger area  and deal more damage. I also intended to make them actually behave differently, but time again.

I appreciate your constructive feedback!

Neat dungeon crawler! I included it in my Nokia 3310 Jam 4 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

thanks Jupiter! I always enjoy watching your jam playthroughs :)

Impressive! I think I found all the spell upgrades but there were two spots in the wall that had a ‘?’ that I never figured out what to do with.

Developer

thanks! The “?” always means there’s something to figure out if you keep looking :)

Cant get past the be curious part, could you give me a hint?

Developer

there’s nothing really beyond the Be Curious room; it was more like “your curiosity led you to this room, continue being this curious to find more secrets later in the game!”

Nice, I managed to beat the game, felt like a fully formed experience and the final room is cool, solid entry.

Great use of the limited resolution! I like the hold-menu and UI stuff in particular.

I didn’t get too far though, I seemed to get stuck transitioning between rooms not far into the dungeon. (I went down from the entrance, to where you can light a brazier through a wall, and went left towards the ‘blocked’ path.) Also, sometimes skills aren’t cast in the direction I expect – not sure if that one’s a bug.

thanks! Hold-menu was inspired by the Metal Gear Solid item selection :)

Yeah, I banked a little too hard that the level design would encourage counter-clockwise movement through that first floor, so I totally overlooked that the door would block you if you approached it clockwise. An unfortunate soft-lock, sorry it got you stuck!

The mis-directed spell cast is my biggest regret. The spell will go in the direction of your most recently pressed direction key, so after traveling diagonally it will often not go in the direction you expect. I should have tied it to the animation direction. Thanks for your helpful feedback!
