My aim was to concept a run-and-gun sidescroller but with a cutesy hand-drawn visual style! My biggest influences for this project were Metal Slug, Rakugakids, and Chibi Robo. The way the theme is incorporated is through the use of "trinkets" found in levels that let you use unique abilities, not too dissimilar from Metal Slug's different weapons you can find during gameplay. They take the form of real-world objects, similar to Paper Mario Sticker Star/Color Splash's "Thing" items, while the characters are all the hand-drawn creations of a child with a wild imagination.

This looks like every game I had on the GBA, which is great. There's a lot of character to the designs and I like the mixed-media approach!

From your description and inspiration list, this game looks like it would be fun to play! I like the inclusion of trinkets as upgrades/abilities! Great work.

It looks like a saturday morning cartoon! I especially love the font choice. I would love to play this if it ever becomes real.

Looks fantastic, really dig the subtle CRT-like fuzziness to the image.

Really cute artstyle! I get a kick of the aesthetic contrast between the pencil and the protagonist, dig it haha. <3

The collage style of photographic objects with cartoon characters is really awesome. Good stuff.
