Love the concept so far, and I would also agree with BadBackGames review. I struggle with keyboard dexterity with the left-hand as I can't focus on the numbers while controlling WASD at the same time. It's why I prefer controller support. Though, it is also beneficial if the switching can also occur on the numpad too. That way, while the left-hand focuses on the main movements, the right-hand controls the switching on the numpad.
It's funny that these cute animals land with a sound as if they weigh at least a ton) I think it would have been better to make the jump on Space and dash on Shift, as it would be more familiar. It's good that you added 4 animals with different abilities, it adds variety, although the monkey and bird are hardly used. Overall, it was interesting to play through the game, even though my result leaves much to be desired.
Thank you for the feedback! I didnt have much time to work on individual mechanics, as this was my first time doing level design, but if I ever attempt to improve on this concept I will definitely take these ideas into account!
Nice idea to use different characters and switching between them to utilize their strenghts, the monkey one had a bit hard of an explanation on how it worked to "wall jump", otherwise pretty fleshed out tutorial. I would flesh out the rest of the game a bit more so you actually need to swap characters more often, nice game overall!
Thank you! I thought it would be a unique mechanic for a platformer, and had a lot of fun making and testing it! if I update this, I will definitely make sure to include a more detailed tutorial.
Love the concept here, I'd definitely play a full version of this with multiple levels etc. The animal swapping mechanic was good and I liked that all the animals really controlled differently. Couple things to improve; I thought too many of the obstacles could be beaten with multiple characters, it would be good to have more areas like in the tutorial where each section needed a different animal to progress. Another thing is the control scheme. In general this would benefit from controller support, but especially on keyboard I found jumping with W while also needing to switch animals with the number keys to be a bit awkward. Really like the ending though, very funny credits sequence.
Thanks for the feedback, I agree with the issue where you can essentially beat the entire game with the frog lol. In the future, if I update it, I plan to add more to the level design, such as walls that only the bird can dash through. The control scheme is also being mentioned a lot, which I will also take into account. :)
