Simple game, but interesting concept. This idea may have been developed to a bigger game.
A really clever concept! Great job, Lars!
If you don't mind my asking, how did you actually go about adjusting the color of the world once an item was picked up? That mechanic actually inspired me for another idea I'd like to prototype.
I had a a list of ColorGroup and ColorGroup has a list of gameObjects (or SpriteRendrer). I assigned different gameObjects to different ColorGroups and upon picking up a Color I assign all the gameObjects in that ColorGroup to have that color.
This is probably a bad solution because it is not as scaleable, and cannot be used with prefabs as easily (if you are using unity). In hindsight I would assign a script ColorGroup to each gameObject with the method "GetColorGroup" or something along those lines. And have the ColorController iterate over all the gameObjects in the scene and check if the ColorGroup is current and then change the color.
I am very happy you like the concept. Hope to make more games in the future!
Thank you for playing the game.
Interesting. Thanks for the updates, Lars! Gonna have to tinker with that idea!
Love the concept reminds me of GRIS. I know you had to fit the theme but i wish i had more time to see things in one game loop.
I wanted the game to be such that you would have to explore little by little each iteration and find the right combination after a couple of tries, but the game wasn't big enough for this effect to feel real. In hindsight I should have added some maze like element so you would have to explore little by little each iteration.
Happy you enjoyed the concept.
Thank you for playing my game!
This is a really cool concept of finding the colors to fill in the world. I wish I had more time to fully interact with the characters but I liked the idea of finding something new each time I played and searched for colors while on my quest to completing the game.
That was what I was aiming for! Happy to see that you had that experience.
Thank you for playing my game!
That's a great first game. The music is chill and I liked the particles you used in the game. Didn't get to finish yet, but i'll try again later. The conversation with characters are great, but in the tiny time you have, you should make it a little faster.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
I really love it, the music is chill and the concept is cool. But the map is gigantic compared to where you really need to go to complete the game (except for the secret).
Thank you for playing the game and enjoying, will create a more sizeable map next time. When I was creating the game I had plans of making it much bigger, but the scope was a bit too ambitious.
Great platformer. Hell of a first game too. Congrats!
This was your first game?! Dude, it is really good considering that! Of course it doesn't have a ton of content and other stuff, but it's genuinely good considering it's your first game - impressive! I managed to win the second time - it was a little had to find the colors.
Thank you, did you find the secret?
A secret? :O I'll go try to find it right now!
Is it that person that has freezing hands? I forgot that I saw somebody and after you replied I remembered that there was something near one of the colors and now I talked to that person. I hope that was the secret, although it didn't seem to give me the color it talked about. Again, a great game. Nice to see that you added a secret
It is not that easy to find, there is an extra color at the edge of the world. (If you interact multiple times with the person with a hat, he tells you what you need to do)
Ok, I'll try do that somewhen, not now though, but I'll try to remember to do that!
