Description
Genre of soundtrack :
narrative and orchestral fantasy.

Inspiration :
Spiritfarer, Hollow Knight, The Witcher, Mickael Torke, Ryuchi Sakamoto, Jeremy Soul.

DAW : Studio One 5

Story of game :

Kya, a twelve year-old girl, possesses a unique and mysterious gift: she can travel through the memories of the living and the dead. This exceptional gift was passed down to her by her mother Malika, but at a tragic cost: her lost her life giving birth to her.

Since that day, Kya lives with this strange and fascinating power, but also with the weight of her mother's sacrifice. One day, she decides to embark on a quest to uncover her origins and discover the secrets behind her gift. To do so, she must follow in her mother's footsteps and reach her tomb, located in the legendary Golden Forest.

Kya knows this journey will be no easy feat. The Golden Forest is an enchanting but dangerous place, where every step can be fraught with peril. Along the way, she will encounter characters as varied as they are intriguing: unexpected allies, guardians of ancient secrets, and wandering spirits seeking peace.

Despite the challenges and dangers that lie ahead, Kya moves forward with determination. Each encounter is a lesson, each obstacle a trial to overcome. She must draw from her memories, and those of others, to find the strength to continue and unravel the mysteries of her gift. Her journey is as much a quest for truth as it is a path to maturity.

Through this epic journey, Kya not only discovers the true nature of her power but also the hidden story of her mother and the reason she was given this gift. Gradually, she understands that her destiny is intertwined with that of many others, and that her adventure might just change their world forever.

Theme

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The bubbles in the image made me think of the theme of memories and their emotional power over mankind.
I choose to use a voice to represent Kya and his quest.
The flute represents the spiritual side of its power.
The Dorian mode is chosen to correspond to the esoteric side of the game's theme. It is also close to the pentatonic mode found in Asian culture, so it echoes the image of the theme.

Definitely one of the strongest contenders for top 20 of this jam, no doubt about it. Each song is expertly crafted to bring to life the vision within the composer's mind, and each influence named is audibly present in every song.

If I had to nitpick, it'd be that each song sounds more composed to picture, rather than being aimed at use in a video game. I could easily see this kind of music being used in a fantasy animated film or even something like Avatar, but game orchestration calls for different techniques, and there's a reason why most game songs are looped the way they are. But honestly, can't complain at the quality of music here.

What we're hearing here is so well done, it's hard to believe it was all made within a week! Lush arrangements, crispy pizzicatos, you really couldn't ask for more in a fully orchestrated soundtrack. There really isn't much more to say. Great job on this one, seriously. I'm honestly jealous WOW.

Beautiful. The vocals remind me of Alice in Wonderful World, especially in the first song. I really enjoyed listening to every detail you managed to put in your music. Thanks for sharing your amazing word and good luck :)
