Description
The concept of "i had to" is a third-person exploration narrative game where the player controls an adult character returning to his hometown in the countryside, remembering his childhood as a boy playing in the wilds.

The gameplay switches from survival-exploration as the kid with low poly art to the narrative exploration as the adult with realistic assets, contrasting from the abstract view of the world as the kid to the boring adult. At one point in the game, the actions of the adult begin to influence the world of the kid, as the adult is induced with false memories from nostalgia, becoming an unreliable narrator.

The music is orchestral, heavily influenced by Wagner because is what i am studying for my thesis :p
The presented soundtrack is a compilation, showing a bit of each part of the full work, being:

Overture (the boy, exploring)
Exploration (as the boy) @57sec
Survival (as the adult remembers) @1:26min
Foggy moments of nostalgia (as the adult) @1:48min
Ending (as the adult finds out the true memories of his childhood) @3:03min

Very interesting atmosphere! Great Job!

Great job melding the chiptune synths with the orchestration, eventually taking us fully in the latter direction for adulthood.

I love the density of your orchestration!

A very good sounding and complex piece. Well done!

Without doubt the best idea possible to superimpose the 8bit and the orchestral in this way. It makes want to play a game as described. The 8-bit touch gives a successful childish lighting, where the heavy atmosphere of the orchestra (and especially of its brass) plants a more adult and dark setting. This mix should have struggled to work, but yet it's perfectly readable, and the game's gameplay concept only adds the final touch of credibility to the project. A very beautiful double-trip from the same place seen by the same person at different ages. Truly an idea as good as it is well done.

This is the best idea that I read so far in the Jam. Good job on the creativity and correlation side of things. The piece is dynamic and beautiful.

The weakest point of this entry is it's mixing quality. Sometimes I don't really know what I'm hearing and sometimes my ear hurts a bit.

Great work.
