A unity version is now avalible, performance should be a lot better.
I lost some engine functionality still, but its nothing that Night sky is using.

I played the Unity version today and wrote a review based on it: https://forum.adrift.co/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13114&p=111410#p111410

It is a promising game. As this is a competition and the game is far from finished, I will have to rate it on what has been done so far, but if you continue to work on it, it could become a very good game. Currently, it is quite frustrating due to bugs.

sweet. I agree on every point.

We will see if this gets fixed/completed or i will update the parser code etc.

A lot of focus landed more on parsing and handling scripts and extending script functionality. And a lot more time as well.

Agree on the save/load. Wouldnt have been hard either since it would be the same way as i debuged it but autometic.

Thanks for meantioning crash bugs and where. I will take a look at the northen lab.

Se what went wrong. The text speed was something i fought with and i even have a flag to show things instantly and hade the concept of long short descriptions but maybe should add that to a core level when describing rooms. Add a visited state etc.

Thanks for the review/feedback.

Will do a post mortem at a close point in time.

I can't complete the third item on todo list. Is it even possible to complete it? If yes, please advise how to complete it. It really slows down my computer to the point it's not playable, and I'd like to see the end,

Developer

i am working on an update but havent had time with work to complete it.

Developer

The game has now been updated with a unity version if you want to keep playing.
Performace should be ALOT better. If there are any more issues let me know, sorry for the slowdown

Attempted to run via WINE, glitches and bugs ruined game experience. Possible Linux-based system port?

Developer (2 edits)

no its a really weird .net implementation of a console due to performance issues with the default.net console.

I want to change it again. To use a webview. But didnt have the time.

Do you have any bugg/glitch specifics.

Its built on Windows. Not a port. Then i would have released alinux version as well.

Would it be possible to release the source? Perhaps I can write a port.

Developer

It's really not in that state at a moment, and nothing is commented.
I will do more work on the engine itself, and want to redesign the console and connected interfaces first.
But if I get to a point to release the source I will let you know. If I would have classifed the current release it's a pre-pre-alpha. :)

I am of the opinion that all software that is publicly available should also have a publicly-available source. If it gets put on GitHub I could make a branch or fork and merge in the Linux compatibility tech if I got the time. A little effort for your audience increasing. If you won’t do that, I rescind my interest in the game entirely.

It's a peculair oppinion.

Mine is that people should be pay for his work, and if they do it for free you should say thanks.

That's what I was teach at home, but I suppose not all homes are the same.

If the work results in nothing to a user, that user is not required to say "thanks".

Think there has been some kind misstake. I did not make the game for you. I made a project for my own sake. So you do you.
