There are 2 themes in this jam, so does the game have to follow both of the themes, or only one is okay? Maybe a stupid question I guess XD

Host(+1)

i guess you can do only one of them but remember the game is being rated by how good both themes are used

Can we reuse assets that we created?

Host(+2)

yes

Where did you get the idea from and when?

Host

for what?

(+1)

the game jam

Host

me and my close friend started this jam for fun about 75 days and this is our 5th one! heres the first if you wanna check it out. https://itch.io/jam/pb-and-game-jam. hope that answers you're questions :)

Cool!

How did the idea of two themes come to your mind

Host

each jam starting from this one we have tried to try different little ideas to keep are jam unique as most jams stick to one unique idea we change it every jam! so i thought of two themes or one theme at the beginning of the week and then the theme switches to a different theme but the second one felt confusing to me so we stuck with two themes for this one. as well i searched on google game jams with two themes and I saw that there was a result that said "Ludum Dare 34 game jam will feature two themes this time" and i thought that was cool that it was the same idea. hope that answers you're question again :)

I didn't know two themes was a popular thing lol

Host

Not sure if it is for say popular but its cool.

Can we recycle unused content from our other projects?

Host(+1)

yes but not a ton of code we want the games made with mostly new coding.

(+1)

OK, thanks for the reply!

(+1)

does it matter what game engine we use?

Host(+1)

well yes. you can't use things like roblox, dreams, littlebigplanet. any real game engine is alright.

i ment like o unity or unreal or somthing

Host

Yes

just wondering if any werent allowed

Host(+1)

they all are allowed馃憤

Is a standalone .exe version required, or can it just run in-browser?

Host

it can have a download or browser it doesn't matter as long as it plays on windows or browser.

Is unity bolt allowed?

idk

Host

should be

Host

but remember you still need to make code for you're game

Around 15 minutes.

Can the game be making fun of itself

Host

As long as the game isn't a metaphor for something else.

Should I use engines or does frameworks work as well

Host

you can choose what you wanna do :) sorry for the late response.

(+1)

can we add a theme? like horror? or should it be only the 2 themes.

Host

horror is a genre so if the game is horror and it works with the themes sure why not. but if it doesn't work with the themes then its best not to because the games are being rated on how well the themes are used aswell as some other things.

Can we use free assets (like sprites, sound effects and so on) from sites like "https://opengameart.org/" for example?

Host

yes as long as it isn't copyright

can give an example of a theme about Out Of Reach
Host

something that you can't get to or have to use things to get to

Example?

Host

the moon is out of reach
