  • Pretty neat game! It implements the theme pretty well and the gameplay experience is fun although very challenging (or maybe I'm just bad at platformers, lol)

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Forward to the Past is a 2D platformer game about spreading nature
and manipulating time to reach the goal while avoiding threats.

You are a fairy that represents time itself, and are bringing the world back to its natural origins, because it has fallen too deeply into uncontrolled technological advance until everyone is dead. Now you can solve puzzles to reach the next levels and give a new chance to this world.

You can move with WASD, use SHIFT to SHIFT time, and use CTRL to CONTROL time in a special state, where you go FORWARD and BACKWARDS in time with D and A.

In any case, you can restart a level by pressing ESC and selecting Continue.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

I LOVED the time mechanics, they are just so well done! I did have a hard time once the sunflower got introduced, but I kind of RNGed my way to the end of THAT stage haha. The music and the SFX are very well done and the art style is cute and charming
Awesome work!

Thanks for playing! Yea I think we could work on improving overall puzzle design, polish some levels and physics etc... We we're kind of scrambling for new ideas once the core mechanics were in place... but glad you enjoyed it for what it was <3 I hope to help with developing a better version one day!

The time mechanic is really cool. Good art and music! Not too difficult. Very fun.

Thank you for trying it out! Good that you liked it!
Great that it's not too difficult, that's means it doesn't have a too steep progression, and that we managed to have you understand the concepts. That's great!
To be fair, we are dealing with very complicated mechanics, it can't be too difficult in a demo, but we do have many ideas on how to improve, grow and make a great game out of it! Hopefully, it will become a reality!

Really cool concept for a game, I really enjoyed messing with the time puzzles!

Glad for the warning about the control scheme! Very necessary. I liked this a lot. The mechanic is a stand-out, interesting, and taking time to figure out how best to use particularly the Ctrl key is rewarding.

We did notice that if you die by falling on the first sawblade level, the game doesn't seem to realise it and keeps going. However you can work around this using menu / continue.

The art is satisfyingly pixellated, the movement and time mechanics are smooth and accurate, and the music is fitting. Maybe some more movement sound effects would be appropriate when you get time (pardon the expression) particularly for the time/forward/back cycle, and jumping. Great that you managed to implement a sound menu also in the time available. Really well done, great submission!

Developer

Thank you for the notice on the sawblade level. It is something very simple to fix. Thank you for trying the game, I hope you got satisfied by the end, we do have many ideas on how to increase and improve the project. :)

A very neat idea! I liked how you combined spreading mechanic with time manipulation.
