- An SCP type of game, the mechanics also feel like Observation Duty a little, since you report the intruders. I was expecting a little more from the game, but it's still interesting in the base state. Would like some addition to the character having footsteps. Good work, keep it up!

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes, even though you guys changed the rule at the last minute to require Google Docs.
Is your game set to Public so we can see it?

Routine Patrol is intended to be a top-down perspective "anti-stealth" game. The player's character is a security guard at a research facility, and must patrol laboratories and other areas for intruders. This is an inversion of the the typical stealth game experience.
Move using WSAD or arrow keys. The player's character will face whatever direction the mouse is pointing. Right click to shine your flashlight. Left click while shining the flashlight on an object of interest in order to report it to the dispatcher. The camera will (jankily) pan to objects of possible interest.
The goal is to complete the minimum number of rounds and report all unusual items. The radio displays how many rounds have been completed and how many of the required items have been reported. You can continue patrolling past the minimum number of rounds, but nothing special happens if you do. An end-of-mission screen or other such thing is not implemented at this time.
"Shadows" are addressed by setting the game during the night shift, and by having the player's flashlight be the primary mechanic for interaction with the world (banishing the shadows).
"Alchemy" is addressed by the setting in the research facility. Science is just a modern, evidence-based implementation of alchemy. It's made tediously explicit in the jam prototype by the mysterious purple spill on the floor (nothing happens if you touch it, but you should try reporting it multiple times).
Extra Notes
This jam was fantastic for me even though I did not complete the scope that I imagined after thinking about the theme. I had only about 5 productive days out of the 14 of the jam duration, so I'm proud of what I produced in that time given my prior experience in games was a pong clone I wrote 14 years ago. Thank you for running the jam and thank you for taking the time to evaluate my submission.

Interesting idea but yeah definitely still in early stages , keep it up!!!
This is a neat concept! Good job getting putting this prototype together. I definitely recommend focusing on getting the intruders mechanic in as you continue to working on this--I think that's the biggest step toward getting a full gameplay loop so you can really start to playtest, and that way you can begin iterating on different ideas and the 'feel' of the game overall.
Good job! And good luck as you continue working on this or other projects!
Thanks for the feedback.
I just finished a basic implementation of an intruder this weekend, along with the alert mechanic associated with them. I think a week or two after judging concludes I’ll have a new build up with it and the rest of the prototype scope implemented.
I really enjoy the idea of this game and wanted to keep playing it already. I think doing this as a full story mode mixed with a "i'm on observation duty" style mechanic could be really fun to play. I'll definitely be watching for more of this as it develops and really hope to see it continue!
Yeah, I’ve thought on the story mode a bit, and I was actually thinking of a virtual month of missions. Kind of like “Papers Please.” I don’t know the exact duration because I haven’t planned the whole thing; I think I know the ending and the beginning, it’s a question of how much middle to have.
I have never heard of “I’m on Observation Duty” and you’re one of 3 people now to mention it to me, so I think I’m going to have to give that a spin.
