Tell us about your game!
Whispers of the Occult is an isometric, stealth based, crafting, role playing game about an alchemist seeking revenge on The Order of the Knights Templar.

The game includes a stealth mechanic where the player must hide from templars or get caught, an alchemical crafting system, and (spoiler alert) a ritual system!

The story is heavily inspired by the true history of alchemy; more details in our GDD!

Lastly, we tried to make our game more accessible by including key rebinding and opendyslexic font. We hope this will allow more players to be able to enjoy our game to its full potential.

This was super fun, needed to do a bit of wandering to complete the incantation but the levels are clean and simple with smooth movement. Would love to see the game expanded & see more/ larger levels to sprint past guards and solve new puzzles. Well done!

First off, the bugs I noticed:

  •  If you press enter during the opening credits, you end up starting the game without skipping the credits, so you miss the opening dialogue.
  • There is a bug in the room where you get the scroll where if you enter a bit, trigger the checkpoint, then leave before entering fully, the room remains fully dark until you reset.
  • I couldn't progress past the smoke bomb part because all the ingredients seemed to vanish from my inventory, and I couldn't recollect them on checkpoint reset.

My Overall thoughts:

I think this game has a lot of potential. The atmosphere from the opening dialogue and the music both lend themselves well to a stealth style game. The lightning was excellent, and really gave the place a creepy atmosphere. I enjoyed all the assets, which were clearly custom made. And the voice lines were very fun. I also enjoyed the references to Alchemic History.

On a gameplay side, I think there is definitely some room to improve. The character can't run, so once the guards see you, it's pretty much an automatic reset. On the topic of the guards, I think they have slightly buggy vision boxes. You can't stand behind them too closely, or else it will trigger as you being caught. I feel this takes away from an aspect of strategy where you can hide behind the guards to use them as cover.

Overall, I think the game has potential, but I would need to see more from it outside of the stealth stuff to really say more. Good job!

This was really well done ,I really enjoyed the visuals and atmosphere the game offered, huge props on the level assets and lighting they made the game look fantastic as well as the character designs.

There definitely were a couple of bugs I noticed mainly to do with the crafting system as sometimes I would lose all my ingredients and I would be softlocked since I couldn't make the required items or sometimes an item just wouldn't combine.  Also I definitely would have loved it if there was animations for movement I feel that would've really brought all the visuals together.

Overall, great job on the game you did so well.

Super atmospheric. I particularly enjoyed the way the smoke bomb was used 😂

Really pretty art, a simple yet effective crafting system and nice stealth mechanics. Overall a lot of fun.

The crafting/stealth did feel a touch disconnected but with more puzzles and situations I'm sure this could be worked out.

Really polished for such a short time and well written.

Great work!

I'd love to hear your feedback on our game. Thanks!
