  • Thanks for submitting to the game jam! I noticed I can just keep cooking the animals in the first room to get extra jumps. Intentional? :) And then when I go to the second room, suddenly I have no extra jumps any more. Not sure if I was supposed to lose those? I can only jump once in the second room. The theme application of alchemy is the most clear, but I have also checked your GDD so I get how you're interpreting the 'shadow' part of the 'shadows and alchemy' game jam theme. Suggestion: Get a bunch of play testers (e.g. friends that have never played the game before). Sit them down, and observe how they play (offer no help whatsoever, just observe where they get stuck and what they do). This will help you to know what to work on next. Good job, overall!

Game 10/10.. killed 2 lamas in the first level over and over again, brewing enough jump potions until I could jump my way out of the first level, softlocking myself <3

And in a seriousness: great game!

I love the mixing of enemy bodies to get special effects. Every time I encountered a new ememy, I was wondering which new ability I could unlock. Great stuff!

Also... the music... what a banger!

Great submission!!

So I just played Cauldron's Quest and I personally think that the game looks cool and has good, quality level design. Although I feel like the theme of shadows in this game are missing whereas the theme of alchemy is there since you have to punch enemies and throw them inside the cauldron to get a unique powerup (e.g. double jump). I couldn't get past the second room after my double jump ability had worn out. The music has an upbeat tempo to it and is really cool to listen to since it feels like I'm playing a Gameboy Advance type of game. This entry is nice in general and I would like to see more variety in the objects that spawn in the different rooms.

There are currently 7 levels with about four different abilities and enemy types.  What tripped you up in the second room? I think it might be a weird interaction that I have with jumping off the chain and if you are holding up it automatically re-grabs it, but I would appreciate the insight. I was rushing near the end to get it all completed but I wanted to have a story about the shadow government coming after the player but had to cut it for time. Thank you for playing my game :)
