  • I love the art style of this game, and the music is really nice! However the themes of alchemy and shadows feel very superficial and tacked on, like you could replace the alchemy with a collect-a-thon with no change, the shadow mechanic is serviceable but not the most creative. Also it felt like there was very little direction to the gameplay? with many rooms and the only goal being lighting lamps seemingly randomly? I dunno, it felt like wandering around sometimes. I would add more direction to your gameplay in the future, but you're set on the art front, it looks really cute!

Tell us about your game!
Nahrii: Shades and Beacons is a simple 2d side view game about bringing light to the citizens of a city drowned in shadow.

You are on a mission to refill the street lamps with glowstones, which you must craft using the local plant life. Careful placing the glowstones into the street lamps, the citizens will likely attack you until they are brought into the glow of the street lamp.

Once all citizens have been brought into the light of a street lamp, you've won the game.

Heyo, great submission! I dig the direction art and gameplay took. I'd advise for next project to make sure keyboard and controller input to be streamlined, the input for horizontal movement did feel broken on keyboard unless I unplugged my controller.

I'm a sucker for hand drawn art <3 The style is minimalist and beautiful. It was such a great quality of life to have the map, with info about where to find flowers. I would have been a bit lost without it. I managed to save all the citizens! Very cute game.

I did it! All citizens have light once again :D What a neat concept and thanks for inspiring me to see what's possible with making things in Godot (I'm new to game dev and just started learning for this jam)

That was fun!
