  • With the time I spent playing, I found the controls to be easy to follow. I also found the way the sound effects were used for the environment to help accent the kind of story that was being told as well. In regards to the way the themes were used, I could only grasp how shadow was implemented here, due to the obvious use of shadow to traverse and platform around. I found how this was used to be quite unique. Though, for alchemy, I struggled to comprehend where this fit into the overall game or gameplay. I will say that the art for the character and environment were done quite well, too. The audio for the game (sound effects) were also done nicely; from the eerie feeling when you finally entered the forest area, and even the sounds of rain in the beginning part of the game. Overall, I think you did a nice job putting everything together, though I would like to see the themes expanded upon a bit more with the story that you were trying to tell. Do keep up the good work, all the same.
  • GDD The GDD seems good. I like how it has an brainstorming section. Good idea with having the GDD as development timeline, but GDD is also about talking about art design, game mechanics design. Think of this way, it is like an elevator pitch. It has to be fast and impressive to sell the idea while keep transparency of ya work. Game The game feels good. interesting mechanics with the shadow, but I think the jump button may be improved by using space button than shadow button. Perhaps remapping implementation would do wonder for those with disabilities? Or pick up torches so ya cant hide in shadow while holding light? That being said, I dont feel much alchemy-ish theme from this than text that said the person who drink the potion...

Congratulations! Fantastic take on the theme with the shadow mechanic - I loved the use with the different puzzles (the fireflies part was super nice). I really liked the sense of urgency at the end.
My only constructive take would be to try and change the camera on the shadow form to take the character more on the center of the screen, for example on the fireflies part it would've made it a bit more approachable given that you would be able to see where the ending ledge is.
Other than that, I loved it and wanted to play more. Keep it up!

And again, congrats on the submission!

Nice entry! I really like the art style for the main character, really beautiful. The mechanic was interesting too, I'd be curious to see how far you can push the puzzle elements of that. Making torches pickup-able would be interesting! Setting your own areas of swimming would be fun.

There were a few spots of discontinuity (what were those ghosts? what was the presumable liquid flooding that building?) that could be polished up a bit, but the elements themselves were really solid. Thanks for submitting!

Thanks for playing! I was so worried a game is too hard or too boring to complete, i'm glad you did it! Interestingly throwing torches was planned during development, but you know, 14 days game jam.
