  • GDD Amazing GDD, I appreciate the detailed notes on the timeline. The only thing I would add are a few images for the mechanics, inspiration, and things like this. Gameplay The gameplay is straightforward, with good hit registration and collisions. But the pacing felt a bit off. At first, since I had no idea where the enemies would come from, I guarded the knight in the middle; it made the gameplay VERY slow. After I noticed the monsters follow and attack me instead of the knight, I could freely roam the map. But still, if I picked the wrong direction, the enemies would take a long time to appear. Art Amazing art and animation. I loved the little intro cinematic. There's a lot of enemy variety, and each is very distinct. Very well done. Sound design The BGM is electric, and the SFX is very responsive. The chain noise of the flail is on point, and each enemy had their SFX for being hit. Last thoughts The gameplay is enjoyable; if the pacing gets adjusted a little bit, it would make players more likely to keep going after death. Great job.

Holy Flail’s Charge is a 3D isometric arcade style wave based survival game, whereby the player controls a sentient flail that is trying to survive the descending waves of Fantasy Creatures, with the goal of reaching wave 20, or to survive for as long as possible.

Our team took the theme quite literally. In Holy Flail’s Charge you play as a sentient Flail, a literal weapon

Was quite the challenge at the end, but I finished wave 20 with the big Orc boss! :-)

Good job on your submission! I wished the waves would come in a bit faster.

Thanks for the feedback. This was actually something we had already changed during development (8sec > 2sec), but I can see how it's still slow during gameplay.
