  • I enjoyed the game, it brought back some memories of playing over it. The sound of the sword stabbing is a nice queue to let players know when the sword attaches to a surface. The tutorials were well placed! It was frustratingly enjoyable! A few things to note: The camera scoots around way too much with the mouse, this can make people disoriented easily. Instructions on how to extend the jump distance are not quite clear. The control of the sword is too slow, I had to go off the screen multiple times and when I clicked to jump, it would stop responding to my input. With limited space for a mouse, this would be a fairly large issue for some. I'd also like to hear some music while playing, it would enforce the frustration, since it's a rage game. All in all, really well made! Keep making cool stuff.

Yes

Summarise your game!
Sword of Mine is a physics-based platformer about a sword climbing its way up to the top by balancing, jumping, and swinging from platform to platform until it reaches its goal. In addition to jumping and grabbing onto ledges by rotating the sword in midair, there are different platforms that influence the sword's movement.

Controls:
You control the sword only with your mouse. Horizontal mouse movement tilt the sword when the tip is on the ground, when in the air it rotates around the handle. To jump you press and hold the left mouse button. The sword's jump strength is according to how long you have pressed the button before releasing it.

Story:
The player controls a sword that was onced used by a strong warrior in the sky, but rests now deep down in a cave. When the game starts, its rest is interrupted by the pleading of said warrior to help her in her final battle against a corrupting anomaly. The sword now has to climb up into the sky to reach her. On its way up, the sword will witness the current rotting state of the world.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You play as a weapon. You are a sword trying to reach your master who is high up in the sky by jumping your way up to the top.

This is beautiful. The mechanic is interesting. Very challenging on my touch pad but probably better with a real mouse. Seems like it would be fun with a controller too.

Thank you so much! :-)

Yeah, on a touch pad it gets a lot harder.

Thank you for your feedback, I have planned to add controller support after the jam! :-)

Very good. Visual indicator for the ability to jump higher when holding the mouse would be nice.

What a well made platformer. Frustrating as hell but the new mechanics like ice and sticking the wall are great additions. Visuals are very pretty as well, congrats!

I'm notoriously bad at these types of platformers, but I love the idea and execution of this. The art is great and the voice-over is a really nice touch! Excellent work!
