  • A great little puzzle like game. An interesting take on the theme with some neat implementation. The puzzles were fun and the story was interesting. the art was simple but effective at conveying a deep dark dungeon. The GDD was light but had some of the key parts of the mechanics. Overall Great game, keep making cool stuff!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
yes

Summarise your game!
You are the sword. Being a sentient, inanimate object with wants and needs ain't easy.

Learn when to use your powers, when to wait, and which creatures to target, kill and possess (and in which order).

Some creatures are squishy, some are slow, some are fast, and some are really strong. Observe, adapt, and execute.

It's a puzzle game, so don't be afraid to restart the level by simply returning to the main menu and then hitting "continue".

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are the sword.
Think like the sword.
Become the sword.

Be as stoic as steel, and as sharp as the blade.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Thanks for playing <3

Woah! What a stark and interesting game. The mechanics you created have some real potential in a full featured game. I imagine so many situational aspects where your wielder's attributes could matter, like size and shape and sentience etc.
Having the other creatures shift in color as you approach them was a nice touch too!
Nice game concept, I really enjoyed the experience!

Thanks for playing I'm glad you liked it!

Currently their size and speed affects the puzzles but I think I'm not making that obvious enough so I'm planning on uploading a new build after the jam is over with more levels that explore those mechanics.

Hope you'll play again then <3

I think the concept here is really cool. I enjoy the idea of being a parasitic sword. Very neat.

I think either I couldn’t figure out what to do with finishing level two or the transition won’t trigger. I can only seem to kill the last enemy then reap it’s soul only after my current wielder dies. Let me know if I’m doing something wrong.

I also noticed that the UI is a little hard to parse right away.

I love the color choice and sprites!

Yeah I think the levels are a little loose and the difficulty curve is very steep currently cos I didn't have a ton of time to design more but they are all completable, it's a matter of getting the order of execution right, so for level 2 for example, the trick is to kill the slime first but stay with the rat, bleed the human and then either avoid it until it bleeds out or let it kill you and  THEN reap the slime while you wait for the human to bleed out.

I'm  currently reworking some of the levels so when you get stuck it's a lot more obvious that it's not a bug, and adding a few more progression levels to hopefully guide players into being more aware of those tricks before throwing them into a bigger level x3

Thank you for playing! Hope you'll play again when I upload a new build after the voting period ends.

I adored the art style. The color palette is bold and foreboding! Great music and sprites too. The ambiance is fantastic.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it beyond level 2. I was able to kill the second enemy there twice using the second ability, but both times I died as well and therefore couldn't continue.

Happy to try something else, otherwise I'll revisit again later! Good work!

Developer

You need to save your reap so you can revive yourself after killing the human :) you don't have to reap immediately after killing something you can save them for later.
