  • This is one of the most unique interpretations of the game jam I have seen yet! I love the call-back to the Sopranos, and motherly guilting. This game is so much fun to play and try to beat high scores with. The art is simple and the fitting, and the sound effects are spot on. I love that you added the ability to clear your game state, and that "Quit" is enjoying your life: nice touch! I would like to see accessibility option of letting a user use keys instead of a mouse click for guilt trips, which would also mimic a Bop-It! very nicely. A sound effect for the missed trips would be good as well, but the guilt meter is also good for that if you don't need the visual cues to play. In your GDD I would have liked to see a timeline laid out to see how you met your goals and perhaps even exceeded them. Otherwise, your GDD is well laid out and organized (though your page numbers don't quite match the actual pages a few items are on, just FYI). I like the way that you described the theme interpretation and your art and music choices. I look forward to seeing this game further developed! Thanks for guilting us with You Never Call Your Mother!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
yes

Summarise your game!
Game based on guilt as the weapon and inspired by the sopranos. Mechanics are similar to bop-it, race against the clock to match the thought to the phrase to increase guilt, win to get an item, and obtain a high score.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The theme has a double meaning - You play as a mother guilting their child, the mother in this case is the weapon. You as the player are avoiding of navigating your own emotions to deal with guilt in a healthy manner.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
the voice acting

I love the way ya'll interpreted  the theme for this game jam. It made me chuckle. Pretty straightfoward gameplay once you get a hang of the prompts and I love how she just breaks that meter and keep going. The art and music are a good fit and honestly though it's short I had fun. Definitely has potential on be lengthened if you want with levels that have harder to interpret prompts and levels. Overall great entry for the jam! Keep doing the cool stuff
