  • ImmuneX was a quirky-control-schemed version of the dungeon crawler rogue-lites I enjoy. I found the music track in the menu, main level, and boss rooms to be fitting for the pace of the game, as well as it matched with the general aesthetic of the art. The level design at this stage in development felt a little wide-open, owing in part to the imperfect collision barriers for walls and doorways. Enemies (and the player character) are easily understood by their models, although if your intention is to use ImmuneX as an educational tool it might serve to add a bestiary of encountered enemies as well as information about their real world counterparts and how that impacts the in-game universe (your white blood cell's host body). Upgrades felt potent and had an immediate impact on the room following their drop locations. Normal, Epic, and Boss battles felt fairly balanced versus their individual rewards. Thank you very much for this submission to Pirate Software Game Jam 16.

Summarise your game!
ImmuneX is a rogue-like level game about clearing rooms to beat the final boss as a white blood cell. Attention will be placed on collection upgrades that the player can amass for strong combinations. Throughout the game, the playable character will level up and become strong enough to overcome the final challenge of the game - defeating a haywire immune system.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Just as your body's immune systems act as your weapon against disease, the player acts as a white blood cell, a weapon fighting against infections and disease in our game. The player can physically eat the enemy pathogens, or synthesize antibodies to attack them from afar embodying the idea of becoming your own weapon.

Love it! Only isses are that the music would overlap sometimes (macos on web), and I didn't understand what the specializations did!

The music overlap seems to be a browser-only issue and unfortunately I didn't have time to fix it. The upgrade tooltips should definitely be more descriptive as well, but glad you enjoyed it anyways!

Great style! The player looks really nice and I love how he enters the level :) Bosses that I managed to see looked really cool too. Liked the idea of the specialization and the choosing of path was nice. Was there any downside into always going into reward?

Not currently. We had plans to make the reward rooms give you different bonuses from the elite rooms, but didn't have time to properly implement it unfortunately. Glad you enjoyed it though :)

The controls are good. The bosses are very hard! Some of their projectiles are difficult to see. Cool choosing your own path through the game.

Yeah that might be something we'd change in the future, the idea was to have projectiles that try to camo into the surroundings. Thanks for the kind words! Your game is super fun too
