  • Awesome stuff! The game was a lot of fun. I want to get this first out of the way: even though all assets are yours, I would worry about a copyright from Disney! It's not in public domain yet, so be careful! That said, I looooved how you went about making this. The theme is clearly there, no doubt about it. Your cutscenes are amazing, and I had so much fun listening to them, plus the Gaston animation! The animations of the objects is really cool, I can imagine it having taken quite some time, but it was worth it, it gives the levels a more living feeling. The concept of you gliding through the castle like butter is great! The music, especially the bells (belles?) before each level, was A+ stuff! I would recommend: making the view map bigger, or allowing you to zoom in/out, so you can better avoid others. The death sound effects btw were awesome! How can killing others affect you apart from the score? Could an alarm mechanism, or them attack/suspect you play a role? A minimap would be awesome, especially if it has an arrow showing where you need to go, since the levels were sometimes huge and not linear. Since they are not linear, what can you implement to make people want to explore? Extra bonus points? Power ups? Maybe clues on where your target is hiding? I would recommend having an image of your target somewhere on screen as part of the UI, so people know who to kill (esp if you skip the cutscene). Maybe make the target stand out more? Either making them larger, playing around with the color contrast (non targets are a different hue or range of colors than the target), or give them an outline. You could add a timer to give a sense of urgency! Also, I tried my best in the first level, but when I got so many negative points, I was kind of disappointed, and gave up trying in the next levels. Which itself was fun. Is that your intention? If not, how can you change that? Keep at it! And apart from the copyright stuff, this could be a game to publish further down the road!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
-The game is based on Beauty and the Beast.
-You are a butterknife from the castle that has been hired by Gaston to be an inside hitman. Your job is to kill all of the targets that he tells you to kill, which include the main few characters.
-There are lots other enemies in the castle to avoid. Killing them will reduce your score at the end (which doesn't really do anything, but make you feel bad when it's low.)
-Controls are simple: click in the direction you want to go, and it will go there. You will fly until you hit a wall, where you can then launch off again.
-There are 2 endings, but it shouldn't be too hard to guess how each one is triggered.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are the butterknife that is moving throughout the castle to kill enemies; therefore, you are indeed the weapon.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
There isn't really all that much that I'd like feedback on, as I have a pretty good idea what all of the weak parts of the game are. I suppose pay attention to the animations, because although they aren't all that great, they did take a lot of time.

Its really fun to navigate by flinging yourself around. Also gotta admit the Gaston cut scenes made me chuckle. The only real piece of feedback I can think of is either giving the player a map or making the level design have more distinct features and tiles. This is only because so much navigation and exploration are needed to find the target furniture. Great job with the entry!

It's really satisfying when you manage to murder a load of targets in a line. The chill music to murder things along to is such a nice contract.
