- GDD Well-made GDD; it gives details about all the sections of development. A timeline would be welcome, especially because the team ran out of time. It might help to get the feel of the scope better. Gameplay Let's rumble. The game has a lot of potential. As it is, I would consider it an MVP. For what could be developed, only the punching and strafing could be tested. When the planned features get developed, I have a feeling this will be a very fun experience. For what could be tested, I felt that the punching was not very responsive; sometimes it happened without animation, and some sort of indicator to when another punch can be thrown again would go a long way. Also, I don't think having the dodging to be N and M as it's stated on the GDD is a good idea; it feels very awkward. Art Interesting mix of styles. While the robot has a futuristic feel and the monsters are alien, it gives well the vibes of an invasion. Sadly, a lot of the design cannot be seen because of the position of the camera. The reason punch-out worked so well was because of the camera position. Being a tilted top down, you could see the enemy telegraph its moves and react accordingly. As it is, the mecha covers most of the enemy. Sound design The team had time to implement BGM and SFX. Last thoughts As stated, I feel the game has a lot of potential, and with further development and implementation of mechanics like the upgrade, it will be a very fun experience. Good job, team.

Fists of Iron: Urban Rumble is a game created for the pirate software game jam with the theme of "You are the weapon". This prototype took inspiration from the game series Punch-Out and looked to expand on it. In Fists of Iron, you are a colossal robot looking to defend the city against threats such as kaijus and monsters. You have to be careful though, as your movement, attacks, and enemy attacks can destroy buildings from the city potentially hindering your ability to upgrade and earn money. You will have to orient yourself in advantageous positions to minimize collateral damage, whilst dealing with new opponents that have different move sets and will force you to adapt.

We over scoped it and ran out of time. Still happy with how it has turned out so far.

I feel like this will be great when it's done, because I love mech and kaiju battles, and if you get the dodging and strafing and general game-feel down, it would be so fun to battle giant monsters and mechs. Right now I'm not sure that N or M does anything, but for dodging please make it other buttons, because it's really weird to switch my hand between A and D and N and M. I think also the way the punching locks your movement is pretty clunky, also I couldn't really tell what the 2nd boss was supposed to be. I made it to level 4 though and felt like I saw it all, keep going!
Interesting entry! I liked it a lot. I wasn't good at the dodging at all but it worked out in the end 😎 Also really digging the art.
