  • GDD: The document seems good. Nice to included images/gifs in mechanic section, and good to included development timeline. Since this game required two inputs (left and right), you could plan for an section about mobile port or gamepad support, so the investors (which is typical the readers of GDD are) can get a idea of how it could be cross platforming based on the 2 inputs alone. Game: Good with the main menu, and the basic settings. The game feels very similar to subway surfers. Even the gameplay is the same. It paints a picture that the game is not "unique" enough to stand on its own. Since the theme is "you are the weapon", I should be able to run over the obstacles as weapon than avoid them. Using the explosives as reason for why the car is a weapon is little bit lacklusting when one thinks about that other car video games also tends to blow up on contact. That being said, it is still a good game and it still provides fun, but I think it could be more interesting / unique if it had mixed in with other game elements from other games genres. I would recommend to take a look at roguelike games (which this game would fits right in), and perhaps look into more lanes than the classic 3-lanes that subways surfers uses, so it could be more interesting to move around than a "boring remix of subway surfers". Perhaps included some obstacles where the car can hit which would actually make it a proper weapon.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes!

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes!

Summarise your game!
It's a subway surfer inspired game except it's not infinite you have a goal to reach. You are an angry Citizen who wants revenge on the city government so you strap a bomb to your vehicle and become a weapon.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In this game I took the theme sorta literally. Your character straps a bomb to their vehicle and become a suicide bomber essentially

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I've struggled a lot in jams in the past. This one in my opinion went super super well. Basically I just want to know if this game feels fun? The whole time I've been working on it I've struggled to tell if it is actually fun.

I think this game is super cool! The concept is simple but executed pretty well. All the different SFX with the coin pickups, crashes and revving of the motor are nice. Modals look good as well! I felt like the control over the vehicle felt a little laggy. I'm not quite sure bit if I was on one side trying to get to the other it felt very difficult to do so, which resulted in a crash or missed coins. But aside from that issue I liked this game. A good amount of challenge a top a nice procedural(?) endless runner! Nice stuff!

Thanks! I got to iron some things out for sure! I got too  good at it. I had it sorta limit the spamming of switching lanes and I was thinking about removing it.

Makes sense! Yeah it's so hard to tell when your jamming your game everyday how difficult it actually is! Cheers! I forgot to say too, I liked the music too. Relaxing. Loved the sax!

Developer(+1)

yeah! I appreciate it first time I’ve made music so I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again for checking it out and the feedback !

Fun game! Liked the curvature. Nicely implemented! For further refinement, maybe more speed variations would be fun? Longer nitrous? A retry button would be nice to get right back into action :)

Developer

yeah absolutely needs a restart button and I wanted to add a decent amount more but I didn’t want to over scope. Glad you enjoyed it I couldn’t tell if it was fun I played it too much while developing it :D thanks again for playing it

Great game. Reminds me of Race the Stig mobile game. I love the car-themed Subway Surfers like gameplay.

Developer(+1)

thanks! I hope it felt fun that’s what I’m worried about the most I play the game so much during development I can’t tell if it’s fun! And yeah! Race the stig I can see what you’re saying.

Yeah I would say it's fun. Maybe, the reactions of the car could be "smoother" . Like when I slide to the side, I would love to see the weight of the car switching lanes. Now it's a little bit like train on the rails. Don't know if you understand what I mean 😅. But that's just polish of the experience. I wish you good luck with the game.

Developer(+1)

definitely I understand it needs more juice and better animations. All of the animations I did were done with math I was trying to be as fast as possible so some things suffered 😬

Fun game! I thought the rolling world, like in subway surfers, was a cool effect! Well put together, with a surprising amount of challenge

Developer

Thanks! I felt like this game  jam went good for me, I made everything in this game Except for the sky box because i forgot to change the default one. I'm glad you enjoyed it

Really well done! Only complaint is that I often would pass an obstacle and then move over into its lane and still i'd get it by it, might be my fault tho. But nice job on the the modeling and textures and stuff, it looks nice. Good job!

Developer

The angle of the camera should've been higher in my opinion. After playing it more I feel like that would've helped with obstacles and coins too! I appreciate the feed back! I'll check your game out too!

Simple concept executed very well, had fun playing it! Good job! Like the addition of multiple vehicles. My only tiny nitpick would be that some coins felt a bit too close to obstacles, requiring very fast reaction time to be able to collect them and avoid crashing too. Ended up skipping quite a few of those. Maybe its just me. :)

Developer

yeah they were a bit too close, I just play tested it so much I got good at grabbing all of the  I should’ve adjusted the location a bit better 😅

My highest score with the ice cream truck

Nice game overall. Some feedback: Repeated inputs seem to have delays (I can’t just spam A or D and switch lanes as fast as I want), causing me not to switch lanes sometimes. Don’t know if that’s intentional or not, but I felt that I needed faster response time

I don’t know if it’s placebo effect or not, but I felt that some vehicles turn better than the others. Like the ice-cream truck.

The goal is well-designed: let the player achieve the highest score.

Your GDD is nice and explains it pretty clearly with a good timeline.

My main criticism would be that my I wanted something more to motivate me to play the game! Like I wish it had a leaderboard with the highest scores and something to compete against.

Developer

oh! Thanks for the feedback! There was a lot I had to cut and things I wanted to add. I wanted to do a leaderboard but I’ve never done something like that before and I wasn’t sure how to go about it. I could’ve watched a tutorial on how 🤔 I got too focused on polishing. As for switching lanes I did sorta limit the player but I kept lowering the amount of time it would stop you from switching lanes, my gut said to get rid of the limit I should’ve also yeah all of the cars control the same but some definitely felt better I kept getting that while I played too!
