Davvero divertente, difficoltà giusta per essere abbastanza stimolante da farti riprovare fino al successo ma non troppo da farti pensare sia impossibile. Complimenti agli sviluppatori!

Pixel art fighissima!!

Developer

Grazie :D primo commento in italiano hahaha

Un juego muy bonito e interesante, ¡sin duda es el mejor de la carrera! No puedo esperar para probar la versión completa, ¡buena suerte!

I especially enjoyed the fact the "dungeon" towers are developed vertically and the retro-accurate features such as the off-screen enemy respawn. Great demo with a strong style, looking forward for the full release.

Developer

Thank you very much! And congratulations for your game in development, looks fun!

I played the beginning several times just because the music and the atmosphere are so great there. A real work of art. Congrats.

Developer(+1)

You're too kind! Thanks! We hope to deliver a wonderful final game :D and congratulations for your demo too! That cat is nice "as hell" :D haha

I really enjoyed this demo. Promising game and cool graphics too

IMPORTANT UPDATE - The official page for this project updates has been published HERE.

You can download the updated version and enjoy the experience with some bugs removed :) here's a short list of updates.

LATEST VERSION 1.1

  • Fixed slight input-lag on jumps
  • Black crows (enemy) slowed down for difficulty balance

Thank you all for playing our game!

(+2)

Loved the retro feelings of this. Also the color palette is very smart, just a bounch of colors but great result. Good job

Developer(+1)

You're welcome! Prepare yourself for the complete game :D a big adventure awaits

(+2)

Literally WOAAH !! Can't remember last time since I played something so hard. I WANT MORE!! ( btw good job guys :) )

Developer(+1)

You're a Belmont, after all! You're our kind of hero :D haha thank you very much!

(+3)

I've got to say, I enjoyed the theme of this game. Movement still felt a little bit clunky and delayed, but I saw you mentioned in another comment that you addressed that already (for the next build). Honestly, this game looks good, but I'm partial to anything gothic.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! We will definitely improve this experience for the final release!

(+2)

It's like a jump in the past of gaming. A very, very hard jump.
Loved the story, even if simple, and the look.

Developer(+1)

Very hard indeed :D thank you for voting!

(+2)

An excellent platform game, old school.

Developer(+1)

Very kind of you, thanks! We will improve it a lot before releasing the final product, it's a promise :D

It's hard to believe that this is the result of just one month of developing. Excellent combination of graphics and music and gorgeous atmosphere, a very professional demo indeed. The retro taste is definitively there, but the game flows smoothly and you can see that there's a very conscious and up-to-date developer behind the curtains. I experienced some very minor issues as far as controls are concerned, but reading the other comments it seems that the problem has already been fixed.  That said, this is a very promising game and I can't wait to play the full version! Definitively one of the best entries here, if not the best one.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for your feedback! We already fixed that annoying input-lag thing but the full game will feature a lot more!

Submitted(+4)

Very good demo with a strong atmosphere, but marred by control and input issues. Well over half of my deaths were caused by the game failing to register my jump inputs.

This may be a matter of taste, but I find that the gamefeel is also hurt by the animations having startup and ending lag that can't be cancelled. Crouching is especially bad: I've gotten killed because it takes a couple frames of animation for Timothy to get into crouching position after I hit the button, plus a couple more to get out of it after I release. Being able to cancel your dash by hitting the opposite direction, being able to jump out of the grounded slingshot animation (or just having less ending lag on it), and being able to jump/dash out of a crouch all would've helped make the gameplay more fluid.

There are also some collision issues, particularly with Timothy's airdash hurtbox, which can somehow clip into spikes directly above him. Landing on single blocks also seems fiddly, as sometimes he appears to land on one before promptly sliding off the edge.

Still one of the best entries for sure, which is impressive considering it was made in only one month.

Developer(+5)

Thank you for the detailed feedback! The jump input-lag it's still the thing that hurts me more, as i learned about how to solve that almost instantly 1 hour after the ending of the contest. Of course we will work around animations and things related to timing. I want the game to be perfectly fluid instead of feeling a bit clunky because of too-strict controls :)

I'm glad you consider this a good entry :) let's see how it goes :D

Developer(+3)

IMPORTANT - Some users are experiencing a blocking technical problem while starting the game. Looks like the issue is determined by a tool problem BUT we have the solution. Please check our latest Devlog for instructions HERE to solve the problem. Cheers! :D

I haven't been able to get too far (it's very challenging) but what I've played I've liked it, but heres what I thought

The aesthetics are great! The limited color palette is used extremely well, everything looks great. The animations are nice and smooth, great job.

Music is good, definitely has that retro vibe to it. I personally think the dash affect is a little too piercing though, but that's my opinion.

Gameplay, for the most part, was fun but very difficult.

There is an issue I had where every so often I would press the jump button and he would not jump, resulting in me dying. Not sure if it was because a previous animation was still playing or if I pressed it to early, but it didn't *feel* right not to jump, if that makes sense.

The black birds I take issue with. They take more than one hit to kill but because you have to be so precise with the attack and the animation is quite slow, I seem to shoot them and before I can recover they have got me. They don't slow down when you hit them, so it feels a bit unfair on some of the trickier platforming sections.

I think the collision detection for the player could be increase a little bit I found that I would fall off ledges after a jump quite a lot because you have to be so precise. I get that it needs to be precise but there doesn't seem to be much tolerance here.

Coyote time works well. Ledge grabbing works well, however, a little bug if you move super close to the edge whilst on top of the ledge and fall off, you'll ledge grab facing the wrong direction, nothing that affects gameplay just a little thing

Again, these are all my opinion. I think you succeeded in doing what you set out to do, the game is challenging, the gameplay for the most part feels good, sounds great all wrapped up in a nice looking package. The fact that you did it in one month is quite the feat, very impressive work.

Developer(+1)

Thaaaaaaaaanks for playing and for your feedback! Definitely we will improve that jump issue :D unfortunately i discovered how to fix that 1 hour after the submission end time hahaha but the actual updated version project already fixed that problem. I was thinking to make black birds have only 1 HP instead of 2 to make them easier to kill :) we will see!

Submitted(+2)

I think leaving them at 2HP would be okay if you like stun them for a little bit when you hit them or something like it. Great job tho, really good entry

Developer

Thank you again :) i'm just sorry i had a small amount of time to polish everything and make this demo. I would have added the first dungeon and the first boss battle as well!

(+2)

Amazed by the game, cool and animations well done

5stars

(+3)

Super fun, super goth, super cool. <3 Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!

(+2)

The retro charm in this game is stunning! The music, art, and level design are 100% on point! And this was all done in one month development time? Amazing.

Please do not make us wait long for the rest of the game xD

Developer(+2)

Thanks for these kind words! And no fear: we will deliver the final game ASAP!

(+3)

Stunning pixel art! I want to play the entire game soon!

Developer(+3)

You're too kind! Thanks! Prepare for a challenging adventure with... cooking too? Let's see :D

(+1)

You might add cooking?  That would be interesting.  I know how to do that

Developer(+1)

Yes it's one of the planned features :)

(+2)

Can't wait to try this one

Developer(+1)

Let me know your feedback! Thanks!
