  • This game seems to have promise. While there wasn't much to the gameplay, the intro was very well done. I felt the art in the game was very creative and looking forward to seeing how the pregnancy is further implemented when the game is developed further.
  • Pregnancy content: I liked what is there quite a bit, the character and her changing stance really helped feel the weight of it all. Sadly there isn't anything beyond that right now, but there is great potential here. Gameplay: In its current state it is just a walking simulator with a few accessible rooms and some NPCs to talk to, which is... not much. I'm sure it'll be expanded on, but in this state I can't give it more. Creativity: VERY strong intro and setup, with the idea making sense within the setting as well. There is something here to be followed up on for sure, just gotta keep building on it. Personal thoughts: Ah, it really makes me sad that this didn't get to a more finished point within the alloted time, giving it such a low score in gameplay really bummed me out. I'm really intrigued to see how this develops and if the other characters (maybe even more than we meet right now?) get to have some fun as well, perhaps.

Okay, to first address the elephant in the room; N-Saint and TheNyPod4 were rockstars in this community after last year's Aboard the Cosmic Cradle, and, especially in light of how upfront they were about burning themselves out with an insane work schedule on that one, anybody who expected a complete game from them two years in a row needs to just sit down and be quiet--these devs have earned a chance to do whatever they felt they could do. And what they did, while it is honestly little more than a proof-of-concept teaser, definitely appears to be at the same high level of quality we expected. I am, for multiple reasons, more invested in a proper Cosmic Cradle update than an expansion of Winter's Rest into a full game. That said, I see tremendous potential for this game to be interesting and enjoyable. The artwork is very nice, and the limited gameplay on display seems promising. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this one may lead.

Developer

I'm glad people are still interested in Cosmic Cradle! Moving away from Unity was unfortunate, but I think we're now better off for it. This game jam was great experience for me as it was my first time using Spine to animate, compared to Unity's built in animation, which was less robust IMO. RN we're using this time to experiment with Godot and see what kind of things we can do, by creating a smaller game (Winter's Rest) as sort of a test experience leading to Cosmic Cradle, eventually :3
