This is cool! I think this would be much cooler in the hands of someone with more rhythm, though! I eventually turned the background music off because I was having a pretty hard time syncing my drumming to the same speed - but I think that is more a skill issue haha. Some of the samples were a little abrasive, and a few seemed to produce feedback that bled into other samples - but that might also be a problem with the me, not the tool. Overall - cool as hell! I don't feel equipped to evaluate this as a music-making tool, but as a jam entry, I LOVE it. Great job!

Here is my best attempt at making a tune:

I'm very glad you had fun! Thank you for the insights!

I'm super grateful that the export to web option exists, but It does produce an inferior product, especially in sampled audio like I'm using in this project. So you probably experienced some delay, along with that buzzing sound that can be heard in most of the samples.

I apologize that I don't have a better solution for playing on the web, but it does play much better with better emulators.
That's awesome you had a good time regardless! Thanks for sharing your beats! Thanks for checking it out!

That recorded video is actually the MESEN emulator in windows. I downloaded the ROM because I saw your note about the web build having some issues!

Interesting! Thank you for pointing that out!

I haven't tested it in MESEN, but it sounds to me like it has the same audio issue as the emulator that was used to make the web build.  Personally I've had the best Game Boy audio results with BGB emulator. Unfortunately a staggering number of game boy emulators have poor audio for the 8-bit sound effect samples, which is the primary focus of this project 😂

I have only ever used MESEN for NES emulation - I was shocked that it worked at all! I will have to give it a fair shake onba "real" GB emulator some time soon!!

very neat! everything worked for me except the visualizer and bgm selector on the web build, switching through the list didn't change anything. it's unfortunate that the web version messed with your sounds considering that's the point of it and not everyone wants to go download an emulator if they don't already have one. visuals are nicely done and fit the theme perfectly, and I liked the different palettes (cool how they affect the main screen too!). the title did have me expecting some kind of falling block game going into it haha, doesn't really advertise itself as a sound toy imo. overall i think its pretty cool! (and i love the little vocal chops you got in there)

Thank you for checking it out!

The BGM and visualizer menus use the arrow keys to highlight your selection, then the Z key chooses the highlighted option. Sorry this wasn't more clear

Thank you for the kind words. Glad I could subvert your expectations with the title.. Drop 8-bit beats with Bit Dropper. How's that? 😄

it won't let me play so I won't rate it

Thank you for thinking about it, though! 😅
