I see this game as a light horror adventure game, a bit of a walking simulator. I have mixed feelings about it.

The good:

  • Nice choice of graphics and music
  • Although some of the quests were a little challenging to figure out (for the wrong reasons, I might add), they never stumped me for long
  • It's a reasonable length: not too long, but not too short either

The bad:

  • Gameplay feels a little awkward. For example, a ghost tells me to pick up a book. The book is in the same room on a table (no challenge or exploration), there's nothing to indicate that I've picked the book up aside from the book disappearing from the map, and there's no prompt that tells me I need to deliver the book back to the ghost.
  • Instant game overs are not great, especially when that means you have to start from the beginning again because you didn't think you needed to save.
  • Some events seem to expect the player to go to certain locations in a certain order even though they can be visited out of order. For example, I made a key, and the character said "now I can unlock that chest in the other room!" I had never visited the room that had the chest, so the comment didn't make sense to me.

So it's a decent game. It's not overly difficult, but has some room for improvement.

This was interesting. I love the art style and the overall cohesiveness of the game. I was a little confused as to what to do and why, but was able to figure it out before long. Thank you for joining the jam! :D

Cute, but I do hold off a bit. Has a... unique sense of humour I did enjoy, but I think there's a lack of cause-and-effect situations, like the cat ears doing something to the ghost ("the spirit gets stuck in the cat") and protag guessing the contents of rooms she didn't visit. Stuff just happens sometimes, as if a step was skipped.
Graphics and Music are appealing, mapping is fine, puzzles are a bit linear, and the plot is quite nice; I thought this was a scary game :0 but it's somewhat wholesome.

Oh, and Rose, sending a player to a Game Over screen with no warning is just evil. Particularly when saving is not even acknowledged. In scenarios like these, you can send them to a "failure screen" map (evented) and return them to the room after a dialogue box, as if that choice was made only in their head.

Thank you. Sorry about the game over . I am happy you found wholesome. :D

Here's a video i did on the game. It wasn't bad but it does need some work, like the maps are really big and no idea where you supposed to go just 'gotta find derrick' and many doors to go and there was a teleport when u go to the dark room and it teleports you into the center of the room with all the doors, not sure if that's what it was supposed to do. There are others that i pointed out in the video as well.

Nice solid game. Not too daunting or too easy. Good balance

Congratulations on another game entry. It's cool you are dipping your hands on a puzzle game. Keep making games. I downloaded and beat your game.
