Maybe? Depends on how the community chooses to vote.. I've been giving 3 stars in theme to games that openly admit to not following the theme. But honestly, hanging out with this awesome community is more important than points anyway..
I might take of a star or two in the theme cat if the game has nothing to do with it. The most important thing is to make something enjoyable and fun for others. You can frame anything as retro, it's all subjective.
