I like the parallax effects. The little shadow on the ground sells the feeling of being high in the air. Very smooth for a browser game!

Hi Gon. Got the game to run. It looks authentically retro! One thing you might want to change is how the enemies attack. Right now you can just step out of their way and never get hit. You could make them do damage one they reach the left side of the screen, even if they didnt touch the player. Good luck making more games! If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my entry. Thanks!

Hey i used to be crazy about C&C and RA back in the day. The remaster was like a small dream come true when it came out. I hope you continue to polish this game, there will be plenty of interest. Also props on making this work at all, even in its current state.

Very smooth for a browser game. I'd want just a touch less sliding, but that might be subjective. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game.

Impressively smooth. Hills!

Hi Dylan. I got it to run, but had no idea what was happening:) The crosshair does wierd things too. Good luck and I hope you finish it up!

Hey, Folks. So this is just an idea at this point? The drawings look interesting, hope you get this made in some form!

Thanks, Lingster! By far my favorite part was making all the custom shaders. The neon grids and the fire effects are all shaders on 2D sprites. Lest favorite was setting up collision in Godot, almost killed my desire to push toward completing this game.

Hi Robotex, try the binary instead. It runs for me in Chrome, but it's many times slower than the desktop version. I guess there are still some bugs in the Godot web export process.

I'll second the great atmosphere and music. Extra points for Godot and Linux. One weird bug that could have something to do with normals. The camera angle seems to affect everything globally. Texture warp and light/shadow. Here is a quick vid. Overall this is a 5-star game jam entry, folks, well done! https://streamable.com/wfo48e

Hi obliviist, thank you for such positive feedback! About the room, it will just disappear and the main game will start. The self-destruct is like cake, in that it's also a lie. I basically wanted to give the player some reason to repeatedly press spacebar. I am incredibly happy that so many people were able to play the whole game and that I did not make everything too cryptic!

I might take of a star or two in the theme cat if the game has nothing to do with it. The most important thing is to make something enjoyable and fun for others. You can frame anything as retro, it's all subjective.

Hi shubhgawhade, good work on getting the online leaderboard working. Also cant help but notice that these files are from 2020, which is probably ok. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Yea, same here. I can see a grid, the bg animation looks nice, but nothing else happens. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hey, Barnes. This was fun! The floor texture looks stretched more in one direction, could be an easy fix. It could also look good if the light was not following the camera like a flashlight. Maybe place multiple lights along the track instead. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hi dominguerilla, this looks great. It reminded me of the training levels from MGS. Great use of the theme to make it a Virtual Boy game. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

(1 edit)

Thank you, John! My goal with the starting room was to make it as streamlined as possible. Most ppl dont want to read a manual before playing a game. Not like we did in the olden days.

Thanks for the clarification, I'll have to give it another go.

I tried it again today with win7 compat mode, it did start. Tried to take a video, but because the game takes over fullscreen, there is no way to start OBS. I couldnt quit the game once the character got stuck, tried all the usual keyboard shortcuts. Had to restart the PC because the fullscreen also prevents me from reaching task manager. Here is where the char got completely stuck:

Hey, I thought I left a comment already, but i guess not:) This was great, it took me a few seconds to realize that I have to manually turn on the GameGirl. Love the details and thanks for your feedback. Good luck with your future games!

Thanks for playing and the feedback. I need to add a height indicator, or make it more obvious somehow. The scoring system is also a good idea, just needs a little bit of extra work to make it happen.

Looks amazing! I got wrecked fast tho, faster than the real online halo. Great job on the theme. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hey YangBin. This looks amazing compared to most jam games out there. Even more impressive that you were done with it so quickly! If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hi Plat. Is there any more info that you can post about this game? I am not sure what I should be doing exactly. And if you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Sorry, but it didnt start on windows 10 for me. Do you have a rom version that can run on a plain GBC emulator? If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hey, Blazer. So the download is for the project files that I have to build myself? Sorry, but Unity doesnt run on my computer. Hope you continue working on this and other games in the future! If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hey, I couldn't get it to start:/ Hope you keep making more games tho, I think it looks fun. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hi Daniel. This is like a mix of Alley Cat and that game about serving drinks in a bar (cant remember the name). I like your visual style! If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Fun game, dunno how I'm the 1st to post a comment! TBH you should just keep the player model. I think it looks like a chicken. Maybe it can kick little Links in town or something. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hi , Popcorn. This is a really fun game, idk why more ppl havent rated it. I gave is an excellent score. It's more like shadow warrior than blood (which is what i expected at first). If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hi. I'm afraid I have some bad news, it wouldn't start for me.  Hope you enjoyed the jam and will join many more. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hey, cool style! I wanna shout out a good default control scheme too. A lot of peeps use WASD, but then Z and X a lot. Alt/Ctrl  is so much better. If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Hi, Demaker. I havent played Shin Megami, but I did play pokemon and (some) mother. You deff nailed the feel of the GB game! If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

The song did not loop for me. Maybe confirm that the 'loop' is checked under 'Import' for the file? If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. It's also made in Godot. Thanks!

Hi Kew, I wasnt sure what to do, but maybe it's because I havent played No Man's Sky.  If you have the time, then I'd love to hear your opinion on my game. Thanks!

Glad you liked it. Yea the web build is super slow compared to the binaries. Thanks for trying it!

Deff has the PSX shooter feel. You pretty much nailed the pixelated polygons. Did you use any PSX style shaders to make this work?

This is pretty impressive for a one week project. Great job remaking one of the more complex retro games out there! I'd love to hear your opinion of my solo project. Good luck with everything!
