Super fun and beautiful game! I discovered something thanks to you. Everything is well done (gameplay, art, musics, level design, atmosphere, ...). Congratulations!
Thank you for the thoughtful and kind words!
awesome job, admittedly never heard of this game till now but you definitely did the demake justice.
Thanks for the kind words!
Hard work on graphics, also very enjoyable :)
Hard work indeed. About half my Jam time was spent in photoshop making the pixel art lol. Thanks for the kind words!
Very nice game. Such a sweet character. I loved it! The egg-based control is pretty sweet ubt a little nitpick was that I busted the egg on the first jump and was unable to progress. Of course, a quick run against the spikes solved it but it would be nice to not have to do that. Other instances of this happened across the game but those could be easily polished out. Overall, a pretty solid entry.
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! In all honesty, this is an issue I already wanted to fix! The nest spawning was buggy, so rather than spend precious jam time debugging them, I removed a lot of the nests and just made the mercy spikes instead to prevent a total soft lock. Band-aid solution for sure.
Anyway, great insight! I'll probably pursue this idea further and will use your feedback for future design decisions. Thank you!
This is very polished, the mechanics work great and the art work is super cute. Nice one!
Thank you kindly! It's nuts how much extra time the polishing takes lol.
I never played the original, but i loved this version of yours!
Thank you!
I haven't played the original version of this game, but your version is definitely a lot of fun to play, and very polished. Well done!
Thanks for the kind words!
Beautiful game. I was really impressed!
Thank you kindly!
Sooooo fun! Someone else mentioned that they're not really into platformers and I'm the same but the way you reimagined Billy Hatcher totally made me forget about that as well, haha. Everything is so thoughtful and polished - awesome job! Really inspiring work here :)
Thank you for the kind words!
Loved the art-style and overall feel of the game, the side effects were also pretty interesting to play with and added variety and weight to the decisions you made when picking up a powerup! The egg mechanic was also really cool :)
Hey thank you for the kind words!
Very entertaining and interesting, however it lacks of side-effects IMO.
Yeah, the side effects are there, but not a main focus. Here's the list I have in my game description
Ok, i didn't see them because i don't played the game too far, now changing the rating.
Hey, no worries either way. These Jams are more about hanging out with an awesome community than points anyway :)
Platformers are not really my thing but this game is absolutely magnificent. It looks and feels and sounds just right plus it has an interesting and unusual core mechanic.
Very high praise! Thank you kindly!
I can see a lot of love when into this game - well done.
A lot did! This character's a nostalgic one for me. Thanks for the kind words.
Interesting game, the art is slick.
Great game. Works like a studio back in the day would have made it. If this was ever expanded into a full game. (Ignoring the copyright) I'd definitely get it. Reminds me of what Shantae games are like nowadays. Great work! Keep it up!
Thank you for the high praise! I'm honestly considering using these mechanics in a game with my own character design.. maybe I'll pursue the idea further...
Definitely will keep an eye out for it!
I didn't see this game on my Snes , I'm happy to discover it now :)
Thanks for the kind words! Billy Hatcher was a Gamecube game, the character didn't exist in the SNES days.
