What was the origin story?
HIJACKD began as a possession-based puzzle game, where host attributes became the player's. I really loved the mechanic and wanted to explore it more deeply, and allow for the player to partake in a murder sandbox akin to Hitman.
The ambitious idea to recreate hitman without experience in AI or level-design lead the project to be a simple tech demo, and here it lies all the same, except crustier. However, I met a great musician who gave instrumental motivation to the crustiness of it, and I also felt much more excited about developing the AI this time around.
Though it doesn't work, and there's only one level, I'm happy I had the chance to dance with this corpse a bit more. Hopefully, I'll be able to stop biting off more than I can chew and make more of what I have! The v0.9 is the jam version which I have a love/hate relationship with, somehow it has rekindled my love for the older version...

I love seeing proof-of-concept submissions. There's some neat lil stuff in here. Awesome job gettin' it "done" : )
Nice little prototype of mechanics and level (ฅ`ω´ฅ) was interesting to possess people, can't think of a game that has done that before, good job!
Thank you for checking it out! I did a lot of research into other games that tried the mechanic. If you’re interested in exploring the mechanic a bit more, check out the early 6th gen titles like Psi-Ops and Second Sight (PS2 ports).
I really like the possession mechanic, I couldn't seem to exit an NPC to take over another one when I ran out of ammo and I was left with eating them instead.
Thanks for playing! I’ll definitely consider some UI hints and better indicators to help that mechanic, but I’m glad you were able to enjoy some people food.
