What was the origin story?
I was going to make a game in memory of my blind granny cat, Jinx, who was 22 when she crossed the rainbow bridge. I started making plans but they depressed me too much and I ended up discontinuing the project.
I've also wanted to make a game about Charon, the ferryman of the dead, where he transports people to the "underworld" in his little boat, whiles listening to their stories.
This game is both "Cadaver Pit" (using assets from Asset Pack Jam), and "Franken Combination" (Fuse multiple dead projects in some capacity).
I would count this as a success, as it is a fully fledged (albeit short) game, in the style of a visual novel, done in Ren'py.

Thank you for playing ʕ≧ᴥ≦´ʔ apologies for the depressing story. I am happy I finished the games jam game though, I put it off for so long because it depressed me so it's nice to have a mini memorial of her now where her story ends somewhat happily ฅ(^•ω•^)ฅ
A very sad and a touching game. It's only a game that someone who's had pets could really understand on that deep emotional level. Huge props for using photos of your cats too, made it hit all the harder.
There's something about the afterlife that is uniquely intriguing not only from a narrative perspective but deep 'what is the meaning of life' type stuff. If you're into that I strongly recommend a book called 'The Case for Heaven' by Lee Strobel.

Cute little game! I approve since I also have cats in my life and don't want to ever see them go.
I think you should have some sort of music in the title screen, especially since there are settings for volume in the main menu. When I first started it I guess I was expecting music and thought my headphones weren't working for a brief moment.
Thanks for playing (≧∇≦)b I actually wanted no music until you hit the end of the first scene so that people think it has no noise at all and then it hits them with the sad part ( ；∀；) lol
I really like the custom Grombit grim reaper! "Gromb Reaper"
The 'Project Revival Jam ' theme modifiers mentioned using assets from their AssetsJam, so I used the Grombdoll submission to make the Grim Reaper characters (llФｗФ｀)
very cute, the art for the vet scene changing colors worked very well. I didn't know if there was going to be music, but was glad to hear it kick in at the right time.
Yeah, I had originally put background music throughout, but I thought I'd remove it from the start scene for exactly that reason, make people think there's no sound and then BAM! Melodic Autumn - Free Music Pack from their AssetJam because their piano song fit it really well |ω・)
This is so sweet and heartwarming. It hits close to home since my cat just recently passed away as well. He was a maine coon that our family adopted and we had him for 7 years. Great game

(♥ω♥*) I saw a comment on the Grombdoll Assets's page at the beginning of the game jam saying to help bring it to life for Revival Jam 2 and I slightly misunderstood the assignment by adding them into my game. As I thought they meant to use the Grombdoll characters themself, but in hindsight I think they wanted someone to finish the dress up Gombdoll game lol. I only noticed a week or so into joining Discord that the Grombdoll was a kind of mascot in this game jam/community lol. I think the Grombdoll worked well for the Grim Reapers though (´∀｀)♡
Jinx was precious, is precious and will be precious in the heart! I'm glad you've got the courage to get back into this project. Got the ending where Jinx escaped from the Grim reaper.
