You definitely nailed the theme with this one- not only does the concept of having to complete tasks near the edge of a black hole work perfectly for in too deep, it also feels that way. Most especially the sound design and screen shake really contributed to that in my opinion.
I will say it's pretty difficult to control- but that's coming from someone who barely ever uses keyboard controls. I think the movement is very appropriate for a spaceship. I'm sure I'd be able to do a lot better if I had joystick controls, which is not something I expect anyone to implement for a 48 hour jam. I just wish I was better at it because it's really a cool game and concept!
Pretty cool idea! There were definitely some times that I was like "okay I'm getting combo-ed and I'm totally screwed." The game did eventually get kind of boring / frustrating, as it was a constant loop of trying to get back to the satellite while constantly trying to refuel and getting hit by asteroids and enemies. I hardly got to actually catch asteroids before getting demolished by an asteroid going mach 5. I think it would help to have some way to tell when something is going to come. I did realize way too late I could use the asteroid to block and fly backwards, but then it is hard to shoot, and I was constantly on the brink of empty fuel. It's really cool how the design works so well with these basic components.

This is really cool, it definitely feels like a game I would play at an arcade machine. I like the idea of having to travel near a black hole, offering greater rewards for greater risk. I think a fun part is having an asteroid on your back as you travel, it kind of acts like a shield, being able to bat other asteroids around and prevent collision.
This game certainly got a long playtime out of me. I was probably playing for about 10 mins which is rare for a 48 hour game jam game. Despite the simple graphics and arcadey gameplay, this game feels alive. Things are random enough that I don't notice seeing the same assets, and the sounds are very well done. The difficulty of the game is also tuned well. I feel like I have control over my character but not so much that the game becomes easy. I also got into a few riveting situations where I started getting close to the black hole and ran out of full, but just saved myself in time to escape. Super awesome feeling! Great job guys you made an amazing game!
