So at first, I rated this game all one star because I wasn't able to play the game, and eventually a playable game was added but it doesn't seem to work for me, what happens is just block going fast up and then teleporting to the bottom and nothing loads and I can't play any of the game. I am mainly writing this so maybe the host could remove my review because I don't want to tank the rating but if the host can not I will just mark everything four stars because that is the best thing I can do.
It's a neat idea, although I'm unsure how so bad it's good it is. I did have a controller, but didn't have a second player to really try it out with.
I kinda like the idea of this game, but I was sadly unable to test it since I only have one keyboard and no controllers. I didn't see any other way of adding players to the game, so the game ended up just being a single cube flying around the level.
I was able to gather what the game is from the game page, the other reviews and how I could control the cube, and it seems like a neat idea!
The lack of sound really drags the game down I think though, even if it was just some royalty free Kevin Macleod music or a little blip when a player dies or goes off the map would be neat.
But I could see this being improved into a pretty fun game, good work!
I can look into letting you play as two separate characters played on the keyboard. It's too late in terms of the game jam, but it's a solid idea.
Also a good suggestion that I initially didn't think about for time constraints. Going to make notes of this stuff.
Rather nice game tbh.
If you want some constructive criticism, I’d suggest treating the WASD keys and the arrow keys as different players (so two players can share a keyboard, without needing to buy a controller), and probably making the the player objects look slightly different (maybe different lance colours?)
Overall, I can see plenty of potential in this game concept. Nice work!
I didn't think of that at all when I was slapping this together, but that's a great idea.
The original plan was to have proper art assets to replace my temp blocks, but my friend got busy. I'm thinking that adding some sort of color effect should do the trick for an updated build. Like, player 1 has a red circle, player 2 gets blue, and so on.
Really interesting little local multiplayer game! Very simple but plays really well!
I loved how the movement works, and how the characters could accelerate infinitely fast big-rigs style! 😅 It's an extremely simple game for now, but I could see this idea be expanded upon quite a lot!
Thanks for submitting!
Thanks. I decided to cut some of my other ideas for scope reasons, but I think I could add a bunch post game-jam without expanding the game's complexity too much. One idea was to give players the ability to "throw" their lance. The upside is you can potentially get a kill from a safe distance or by leaving it on the floor like a spike trap. The downside is that you have to go pick it up if you want to ram anybody. 😅
Yeah, I'm going to have some fun updating this.
your game appears to be marked as private or something, so I can’t actually view it or attempt playing/rating it.
you might want to consider fixing that.
Sorry, this is my first time ever submitting anything to itch. Will try to make the update.
