Scored around 800, pretty fun, music is a bit of strange for such a medieval wolrd but 3d is very beautiful

Developer

pretty darn good! and yeah i agree! not a bit music guy. on top of that i had trouble finding a song that is “free for commercial use.” So i just stuck with something fast and upbeat!

however, if i continue this project i will be sure to address that. thanks for playing :D

Hey! Here's my thoughts:

Gameplay

For some reason, the game occasionally did fps-bungee-jumps for me which made it hard to reach a score above 300, which is sad because while the game ran smooth, I really liked it! I would've loved to spend even more time with it and be able to do a few upgrades and such. Perhaps it was mac proving yet again what poor choice it is for playing games - but I'll make another attempt on my windows later! ^^ I like that you implemented more than just simple arrows, with pickups and such, that adds a lot to the replay ability and keeps the game interesting - when you always have a chance of regaining after loosing.

Theme

It absolutely follows the theme!

Aesthetics

The look of this is very nice! Part of the UI feels very "standard" but the level itself looks really good and felt like some thought was put into it. The arrow-filled ground is such a cool detail that adds a lot!

Sound

Very well made/chosen/placed sound effects, but the music was not quite as good and became a bit of a stressful element.

Overall, a fun game and I hope more people'll play it! I know I'm going to give it another shot in a few hours when I have access to windows. :D

first i’d like to thank you for playing and giving a great, in-depth review/comment!

my apologies again for the performance issues, will be sure to address those if i continue this project! Someone else mentioned about the music as well! might be smart for me to find a composer as i had a pretty limited selection for commercially free music, plus i don’t have the best ear either. As for the UI i totally agree, that was more of a “let me rush to get this in.” it’s still using the default unity font as well *insert face palm*

anywayyyyy, thank you so much for your time! :))

nice game. But the shield could be bigger! Also it has made me much fun to play it, keep on making great games!

Developer

thank you very much! one thing i would add if i continued working on this project is the shield! currently upgrading the shield only increases speed. my original idea was to also upgrade the size (starting with a smaller one than currently in use and upgrade to one bigger than current shield). unfortunately it wasn’t it the cards for this jam.

thanks again for playing :)

Very fun game! It's simple but got an addicting game loop and everything felt nice and smooth great work!

cool game ^^ I got 443 on my first attempt for high score ^^ really well thought of mechanics. art is well made too! really solid submission. feels really smooth.

Developer

thank you so much for playing, and not bad at all! but full disclaimer, the most of the art (castle, shield, trees, icons, etc.) is pre-made off the asset store.

i’m a programmer with little art experience. i’d prefer to spend my time programming and level designing instead of making models and art.

thanks again :)
