Definitely can see the vision for a confronting and eerie home invasion horror where the tables are turned on the characters as they are hunted by the player. As your description says, there's a ways to go to realise it, but I like the dimly-lit atmosphere and the pieces are capable of being put together. Hope you can keep at this one!
Thanks for submitting Groomed To Death to the jam!
Sadly a bit bare bones, but I like the concept, it would be a nice twist on the horror formular.
Great sound design and lighting.
I liked the ambience which reminded me a lot games like the fears to fathom series. Too bad the mechanics couldn't really be implemented in time cause it would've been a pretty cool classic horror experience.
One thing that disturbed me tho was the cut between the tension music and the chase music. There didn't seem to be any transition between the two and it seemed often that there was a disconnection between the music and what the AI was doing. I often saw it staring at a wall not moving while the music was forcefully putting me into anxiety zone.
Thanks for playing and taking the time to write a review. There is in fact no transition from the exploration or more tense music to the chase music, its a dynamic system though which adds and subtracts instrumentation. The same system plays the chase music when the killer spots you and will keep going until the AI gives up the chase or catches you, which doesn't happen if the AI breaks, so it will just keep going indefinitely.
Very clearly unfinished but the concept and premise are really fascinating to me. There isn't so much to do in this version, yet. There's a phone upstairs and what seem like quite a few enemies. But there is a robust first person perspective (I can see my body) and there are enemies with behavior that don't seem quite fully cooked yet. The audio stings are solid. All in all, a very ambitious project that didn't seem to quite make it to completeness, but whose bones are all present. I'd be interested in seeing where the game ends up once it can spend some more time in the oven! Lots of potential. The pun in the title is an... interesting choice, but it doesn't detract too much, and does make me wonder what exactly is going on in this house.

Thanks for the wordy review! There is just the killer as an enemy, the other fellows are victims, the one in the walkable closet is the titular groom. The idea was to enable the killer to get to his victims through the use of certain items and then film the kill. Unfortunately none of this really made it into the submission, so the only thing that kinda works for now is getting the killer to kill the victim in the bath through calling them, hence the silly ringtone
Oh that's REALLY interesting! It sucks y'all didn't get to implement these mechanics but I really like the concept! Good luck fleshing it out after the game jam! I hope y'all still have enough interest in it afterward to finish it up because I'd be super interested in seeing how it turns out!
I'm happy that you like the concept, i will definitely pursue realizing this game one way or another until it is a tight little horror experience.
Pretty cool aesthetic ! The sound was probably the best part of your submission, it creates a great ambiance !
thanks for playing our game! the audio is the only thing that is more or less finished, so not surprising.
