The fear that the atmosphere gave was good.
This game is a lot of fun!
I like the aesthetics and the lighting changing as the monster gets angrier is a cool idea I havenโt really seen before. The story was also pretty good, I always enjoy folklore inspired creatures and I think that you pulled it off well.
There were a few bugs that I found:
Bugs aside, my main suggestions would be that the objectives could be made a bit clearer and having spookier menus and splash screens would go a long way, as most of them currently just have plain text on a coloured background
SPOILERS:
Iโm not quite sure what Iโm supposed to do at the end of the game. Iโve collected all notes and entered the name (I tried both of the names for good measure), but nothing really seems to change. I donโt know whether Iโm missing something or whether there isnโt an ending implemented for the game yet. Overall, good work!
Overall, good work!
Thanks for the review! This was my first time working in 3D and working solo, so I'm glad I made something you liked.
SPOILERS:
There is a functioning good ending, but the names in the diaries are red herrings and you need to solve a puzzle using the books to find the creatures real name. There's 7 books in total(definitely should've made that clear). I do think I might've made the puzzle too hard if it wasn't clear that it even existed.
The visual design is a deliciously grainy lo-fi vibe with a green filter that oozes personality. I'd love to have more background to the game understanding the atmosphere and setting it's going for, particularly the reveal upon escape that it's in a frozen wasteland - is this an Arctic hut where food has run out?
I'm not gonna lie bro. It was supposed to be a dead forest, but I didn't have time to add trees. However, I like it being a frozen wasteland better, so it's cannon now
Cool game, the jumpscares creep me out! I thought the game may have been a little too dark. There were sections where it was pitch black and I couldn't see where I was going. The lighting also made it very easy to completely miss doorways. Additionally, I encountered some small issues with enemies going through walls to get to you and the camera clipping through the wall, but nothing major. Good work!
