This is a fun atmospheric horror game with some subtle visuals that work very well. I think the strength of this game is its minimalist approach. I know you said you have just started with Blender, but this is a great example of how 'less is more' can work! The use of stark white meshes, the very limited draw distance, and the fade effect on the ghosts is incredibly effective and also quite nuanced!

I like the grave-robbing mechanic, the use of notes, and the fact that the game is not an avoidance game like most of its kind. I thought it was cool that some players didn't notice the ghosts at first. The only feedback I could give is having a clearer directional objective to get the spade instead of wandering could have helped with the pacing, and some threat might add a bit of tension to the game.

Thanks for submitting Beginner's Guide to Graverobbing to the SCREAM LITE jam!

Thanks!  I'm glad you liked it.

I agree that the colors work. I think I'll tweak the door color too, to match the theme.

This issue with getting loat is something several people pointed out.

The things is, after the gate there IS a lit path on your right taking you straight to the shovel.

Most people just go straight and get lost. I should rearrange the level a bit.

Thank you so much for making these awesome jams!

I got chills when I saw that thing behind me, I didn't know I was being followed. Very cool!

I got enough to pay the rent! Yay! Take that, rich dead people!

I like the art style.

Thanks. I've been putting more focus in using blender recently. It's still very basic stuff but I'm happy it turned out more or less cohesive.

Nice little game. I was a little lost at first, but when I started finding the notes and gear it all went well from there. Love how the ghosts fade away when you get close: combined with the fog, it makes you unsure if you actually saw something or not. A great effect. The graveyard would be easier to navigate if some landmark helped us understand where we are and what portion we have explored already.

Developer

Thanks. Those are very good suggestions.

Very spooky! I loved how the reduced draw distance adds to the atmosphere, the ghosts blend in with the grey fog and sometimes I found myself wondering if that was really a ghost or not. I dug up a grave and found a sense of swelling dread, and ran like hell! Not quick enough though... Thank you for your time!

I really liked this. Great atmosphere. I nabbed a necklace and ran, because I'm a coward at heart. My only complaint is the really short draw distance.

I think the draw distance (or lack thereof) adds to the tense atmosphere, as it makes it difficult to see enemies around you

It's actually really thick fog, but in the web builds it translates to seeing nothing and the flashlight being absolutely useless.

I just kept it like this due laziness but also I kinda like how it turned out.

Thank you both very much!
