Good start, there definitely needs to be more variation in the dialogue (but I understand NLP is hard :) ). A great next step would be to have the tourist respond to your instructions if they don’t understand.
The main problem I had when I started was I hadn't read your instructions properly and couldn't work out why the tourist wouldn't move anywhere (I forgot about the initial compass direction). Once I started again (and paid attention) it flowed smoothly between tourists and I didn't get any errors. It could be helpful if it's possible to log that a user isn't inputting commands properly and give them some feedback (it doesn't have to be polite!).
Were you thinking of adding any modifiers in that would change how you might have to give directions - a sort of puzzle mechanic? (something like traffic that could move at the same rate as the tourist and block certain intersections)
I'll be interested in having another go when you get further on. Great job with what you've got so far.
I think it needs a lot of tweaking in terms of the instructions you can give and why you'd give them in such a way. In our play through it devolved to straight, right, right, straight, left - and there wasn't really any reason to do any different.
I think there's so much you could potentially do with this though, and it's a great start. Please do finish it up!
nice idea, could do with a nicer way of finishing the conversation. At first I tried "and you're there", "then you're there" "that's it" "you're at the park" before guessing "bye". "Keep going" would be a nice alternative for straight
I liked the idea of this – directing tourists is difficult even when you’re looking at the map! The system seemed to work pretty well but it’s clear that you ran out of time to polish it further. Hopefully you can iron it out a little more after the jam 😊
Hopefully useful feedback: it would be handy to be able to tell the tourist to (e.g.) “Go south three times” – that would make it easier for the times when the tourist wants to go across the whole side of the map. Also, maybe it would be easier for the tourist to always start at an intersection? Sometimes the tourist would spawn places where it wasn’t clear that I had to give them a starting instruction to walk the few pixels to crossroads.
Maybe it should show you where the directions would have taken them if you got it wrong? Then you could find out where you’re going wrong (but perhaps lose points for wrong directions!). Either way, I liked it – I look forward to how it develops further!

These tourists aren't the brightest... something like "take the third left turn" should be an easy enough instruction to follow ;)
I liked this as well.
