Before we begin, maybe it's fun for everybody (who wants to) to share their special interest and hype the others up? :)

I'll be making a short dungeons all about ants and their antics. I was fascinated by them as a child, researched them a lot, found out all kinds of cool tidbits that could enrich any adventure. Hopefully I'll be able to convey their awsomeness trhough my submission!

What about you?

I have a peculiar special interest right now, probably a quite complex one. it's about "beautocracy" and body-shaming: why do people think beauty is above all important? why do the "elite" shame the imperfect? why is it so hard to accept the different? I'm probably submitting my experiment of a game about "elves" and "orcs" where this divide between "beautiful" and "ugly" is the origin of the conflict.

I suppose my main Special Interest right now is Pokémon. Which can be translated to a game in a variety of ways so there's bound to be some fun choices to make this jam.

I would love to write/paint about something from my fantasy world Genius Loci for this - is it okay to do a "general overview of my world" thing for this jam or would we rather have a smaller subject? I am fine with either, there's plenty of sub-subjects to choose from.

I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do for this jam! like, I know I have more general special interests but when I think about it I'm always like "the beatles!" or "the kennedys!" and I do not know how I would make a game about either of those!! maybe tea or beer or baking.

This jam is a perfect opportunity to dust off one of my old projects and redesign it from the ground up, because it was based on a "special interest" of mine.

When I was a teenager, I was a huge fan of Ratchet & Clank. In case you don't know, it's a series of action-platformer video games that started in 2002 on the Playstation 2, where you play as a mammalian creature and his robot pal, travel from planet to planet, buy wacky weapons and fight colorful enemies with them, smash crates to collect bolts and use them to buy ammunition and more weapons. The series isn't exactly dead, but I feel like it lost its way about a decade ago, and at the time I tried to keep it alive by creating a TTRPG that mimicked the experience of the video games. It was set in my own universe, but incorporated many trappings of the games' worlds.

I've been meaning to restart that project with a clean slate, but haven't been able to find the time to do so. Until now.

I have sooo many special interests, but I'm using this jam to kickstart a project I've been noodling for awhile, which is using astrology to build characters. I've got some random character generation tables, so now I just need to flesh out the rest

Is it OK to put a project here and in another jam? I will have it translated to Spanish as well so it will technically be two different things.

I'm a bit late to this, but my special interest is lifeguarding. It's a job I used to do for a fair few years and hated it while there but I miss it now quite a lot and when I stumbled across this game jam I randomly thought it would be a great option to talk about. Get to relive those memories a bit while trying to come up with any sort of coherent and mainly fun zine.
