Enjoyed the cool artstyle and music a lot. The controls got a little janky at parts but really nice experience overall!
Very cool little game! It's a shame there wasn't time for those inventory clues mentioned in that fascinating dev log, because I somehow assumed you needed a key or something to open that gated door, and didn't think to shoot down all the spirits at first. I think because it initially looked like they were respawning? Still, I got to the end eventually, and really enjoyed the vibe from the music and the backgrounds.
In case anyone gets stuck or wants to see the whole thing here's a walkthrough https://youtu.be/209Ir-2mwnM
I loved how creative this game is, and how you scanned the backgrounds at a yard sale! Everything about the game has such a cool atmosphere, including the audio. Great submission
Cool game! I love the idea of this sort of exploration gameplay. Though sometimes I got a lil stuck. The graphics look great and it fits the theme really well. The audio is also really well done!
Fun game! I enjoyed the backgrounds. The character design is nice too, reminds me of older style graphics from like the 2600 or NES. The adventure style exploration gameplay was fun too, I really enjoy that sort of exploration gameplay. I would prefer if you warped the player back to the start every time you collect a candle but that's just my opinion.
I did encounter an issue where the audio cut out after I got the first candle.
Other then that, fun game!
Thanks for playing. Glad you enjoyed it. Itβs definitely a little buggy and the sound issue is one of those Flowlab engine specific quirks that is still getting worked out when making an embed zip.
Returning to the Home Screen after collecting an item would be a neat idea. Originally there were supposed to be some ghosties following you around or diving from the sky in the over world, but you know… time limits. I barely got the boss sequence (such as it is) in place in time.
This is absolutely based on Atari 2600 Swordquest series and is nearly as opaque. Haha!
I loved the way you did the backgrounds, that is SUPER cool. I had some trouble with the actual gameplay though, and got stuck and confused at parts.
Nice
