Use a Free Programms like https://www.audacityteam.org/  its Open Source very Powerful and you can record some very simple sounds for your game.

For drawing the art doesn't matter all that much, you could do pure cubes if you have the right type of game. The visual appeal could still be rated high if you follow basic color theory, and do cool stuff.
