Same thing, that other people are saying, happened to me, where if you win the main menu just glitches out. But i do think that the bad ending is pretty unsettling anyway :)
I liked the game, it got me when the menu and music changed.
Still I won and nothing happened?
It just kind of glitched into the main menu (browser play)
Sorry about the bug! Seems to be something web-specific and we are working to fix it soon, along with more goodies and improvements!
Interesting way to subvert expectations with this one. I really liked the art style, but I'd suggest making the uncovered squares a different color than the covered ones, because the board can be confusing to look at sometimes.
Also, is there supposed to be an ending if you win? I tried a couple of times but the game stops working after I solve the board. I had to lose on purpose to see how the game ties in the "cult" part of the theme.
Thank you for playing! Can you add more details about what platform you are on so that we can investigate the bug?
We are working on an definitive update to future proof the game now, the new tiles are in the works 🤩! How would you say the difficulty was handled? Was the Minesweeper game loop engaging?
I played in Chrome on Windows. I think the overall difficulty was fair, except sometimes you get unlucky and lose on the first or second click. The gameplay loop was fine (I like minesweeper), but I think it would be more interesting if there was a mechanic that differentiated it from the original game.
Thanks a lot for clarifying and explaining! We really really appreciate it!
Love the tonal shift haha. I've never been so focused on a game of minesweeper.
A very unexpected idea, definitely didn't think I'd see a minesweeper submission for this jam. Nice creativity!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words, we really really appreciate it!
Nice concept, not a big fan of how luck based it is, love the art. Overall, good job, interesting submission :)
Thank you for playing!
Good Job! The art is nice, and you've fit the theme well. I think the feedback of losing could be a bit more clear.
We appreciate your sincere feedback very much thank you for helping us better our craft, we will try to implement your advice soon!
After a day of feedback across many discord servers and friends, we got back to the chopping board and:
mobile players can play the game without any hiccups totally on the web build, they can use the heart which has the no. of mines to toggle the flag/reveal modes now
I love the art style, music, and sfx of this game! Phenomenal work! I do however, don't like how luck-based the game is. I know Minesweeper is similar, but it did have a number of empty cells specifically to allow the players to start off somewhere, so they can deduct their way around the field. I think if you allow empty cells in your game, it would be vastly improved! There was also a small issue of my mouse inputs pressing the cell adjacent to the one I was aiming, but that's a browser and screen specific bug.
Overall, I loved it, but it could be improved with a more user-friendly game loop.
Thank you so much for the lovely review! We will continue refining the Minesweeper gameloop to make it more engaging!
Hello Stuck Scarf, we have enacted some changes to the minesweeper gameloop to make it more balanced and engaging, so we would like to reinvite you to test the game and see if it hits the sweet spot for you this time around, thank you for playing ❤️
