Very good proof of concept, obviously it needs to be fleshed out more but it was a lot of fun for a few rounds with some friends.
I played this with 2 of my friends, one a game jammer. We had fun killing each other. We would have loved to have seen some more graphics on your walls but we understand this is a game jam and there is limited time. There were a few quality of life things we also noticed. the game mouse lagged behind our actual mouse in quite a few instances and the sliders for sound and mouse sensitivity were not very responsive.
I really liked the fact the difficulty of the vampire changed over time. I kept hitting my push to talk which nearly got me killed as a vampire because it opens a window i can type into and therefore I can't eat my friends and taunt them at the same time. ^.^ We were basically useless as humans when we separated. but the moment we figured out team work we were able to defeat the vampire. I can see, however, the vampire being a bit op if the player knows what they are doing and you only have 2 people but I think that is a known difficulty.
Overall, I thought it was a very good job, especially considering the quantity of time it was built in. great job.
This game was really fun to play and we had a great time. We figured out quickly that it's pretty easy to beat the vampire by having the hunters stick together. I think maybe the hunters should spawn farther apart. In future releases, it would be nice to have a minimap or a way to ping your location to other players, or some other some sort of navigation hint. We enjoyed the characters and the way the vampire walks is hilarious. I'd play it again if you developed it further!
I really wanted this one to work out for us! Unfortunately, multiplayer was too hard for us to set up. It's really impressive to see any sort of networking in a jam game and here you basically made a vampire themed Evolve in less than a month! Everything looked very pretty except for the level design which seemed like placeholder textures. What a great menu you had! I have to admit I wasn't really paying attention to the rest of the game because I was too busy trying to setup the server during the video review.
I finally got a chance to watch the video you linked in the discord group. It looked like you wanted to join a match in progress. This is disabled-- you can only join while the host is in the lobby waiting for players. Sorry for the confusion, I could probably have made it more clear on the menu and in the instructions.
Maybe you'll have a chance to give it another try before the end of the rating period. Thanks for the feedback!
Per my son, "Story: not good well there wasn't much story to begin with. Horror: not scary at all. Gameplay: pretty good! Presentation: I like it. Creativity: pretty good. I think it was creative to make a game like this. Theme: There was a lot of vampire things, but I don't really think vampires can really turn into mist. He is just a man that flys with little sparkles. But, still pretty good."
I didn't find any server available. Maybe we have to schedule some time in Discord to play a match but I managed to play alone and see the level. First of all, impressive characters and movement. And the lighting effect at tghe beginning, super nice. The trick of flowing through gates as fog is a great idea. I'd like to play a match to see how it goes in multiplayer. Default unreal texture in walls feels cold, maybe you could replace with bushes, a bit darker and you have a complete game. Hope you finish and if you send an invite in DIscord to test, I'll join.
I can try to organize something if you're interested but I won't personally be available until the jam is over. I've played it with a few different groups of friends and got some good feedback. Everyone had fun so in my eyes this project was a success.
I'm not seeing the build on your itch page, is it a web build or a download?
I managed to delete it by mistake. I just finished uploading a new version but I'll restore the old one as well.
