I absolutely loved this game! The art style and aesthetic of it was incredible, it felt so eerie walking around in the black and white world. The darkness contrasted by the bright white objects really stood out! And the hands! I saw one of them slowly come into view and was creeped out at the same time as being mesmerized. Then I walked around a little and was met with another! All I can say is that the art was beautiful.
The game mechanics are quite simple, and I failed to find this mystery creature that was supposed to be chasing me, but it was still enjoyable. At first I was a little confused, as I kept trying to put the fuel into the place where you start the engine, but once I found the furnace on the other side, I was good to go! The machine was incredibly cool, I loved the design of it, and its walk animation was awesome. I wasn't able to get it all the way to the end, I just couldn't find all the fuel, but it was a very enjoyable experience. However, it does get extremely dark in areas, which made it kind of hard to navigate/find the fuel. The darkness isn't necessarily a bad thing, but some more trees/leaves would help guide the player. Also, I did face a bug, while the machine was going uphill, I got stuck in it's leg and had to restart.
For some feedback, I think this game could really benefit from some music or ambient background noise. It's completely silent, except for the footsteps, for a lot of the game. The waterfall bit was really nice in part due to the ambient sounds of the water, which I think could really help out the rest of the game.
Overall, I have to say this was one of my favorite games from the jam. The art really stood out, and matched perfectly with the story/adventure you were trying trying to portray. And while you didn't necessarily tell the story directly to the player, I found myself creating it in my head. I think if this game added in the enemy that's supposed to chase you, add sounds and do a little bug patching, this game will be even better! I'd love to see more from this game, and hope you'll continue working on it :D
Hey! Thank you for your feedbacks!
Sadly, the build is quite bugged so the creature won't spawn! I'm looking forward to fix this in the futur, my bad! Glad you liked it tho! 🙂
This was beautiful!! I loved the style. The stark stark world, dark and eerie. I loved how things loomed out of the darkness in crazy ways. The first time I saw one of the giant hands I literally gasped outloud haha. I loved the big waterfall and I appreciated how simple and straightforward the premise of the game was.
I couldn't find the very last bit of fuel i needed! I don't know if it bugged out, I think there was one that felt like it disappeared at one point in my hands but I couldn't be 100% sure. I ended with my machine RIGHT on the edge of what I assume is the end haha but just could not find any more fuel. I like the straightforward idea of running around feeding the machine to keep it going but it feels risky to make the amount needed to exact, especially with how dark and kind of hard to navigate the world is. I have a pretty okay sense of direction but I was constantly aware of how easy it would be to get turned around in the game.
Really beautiful, I'll try and circle back and give it another go to see the end. I want to learn GoDot at some point in the future so it's wonderful to get a chance to see what people can do with it.
and I adored the waterfall!!! Coulda stood there for ages watching it. So cool.
*Edit to add* rereading your description of how it fit the theme, what evil creature?? Ohh what did I miss???!?! Don't tell me lol.
Hi! Thank you for your feedbacks! It's always nice to see people have fun despite a very unfinished and unpolished state! :D
Yup, there is a creature that is supposed to follow you quite early in the adventure, maybe it 's a bug (one of them 🤣) ? To make it spawn you have to (SPOILER AHEAD!!!) feed the machine with the 5 arms available at the start of the game and wait for it to comsume them all. Once it stops, there will be a some trees on the right of the path, follow the candles, there will be a chapel. Enter and take the skull.
interesting! I definitely found the skull but I’m so sure I never saw anything moving around and near the end I really ran around looking for a last arm and never saw anything. If you keep going I’ll try and circle back and get the ending proper and (hopefully lol?) get chased!!
I just tested and the monster feature is, in fact, bugged, my bad! I'll try to fix that ASAP but I'm bit busy atm 💀 For the arms, there is no proper end scripted yet, so it's normal to not have the ability to reach the top. Don't worry, you're not missing a lot, you saw pretty much all of the prototype have to offer (minus the monster ofc)
